NATIONAL LEVEL TRAINING PROGRAMME ON BASICS OF RADAR AND SATELLITE METEOROLOGY AND APPLICATIONS IN NOWCASTING (BRASMAN-2012)
Department of Science and Technology (DST) sponsored National Level Training Programme on “Basics of Radar and Satellite Meteorology and Applications in Nowcasting (BRASMAN-2012)” will be conducted at the Faculty of Meteorology, Air Force Administrative College, Coimbatore (T. N.) between 10 December 2012 and 21 December 2012.
The training programme is expected to provide an excellent background to University & College students / lecturers / research scholars and persons associated with commercial and military aviation in order to inspire and motivate them to develop understanding of basic concepts of Radar and Satellite Meteorology and their applications in Nowcasting.
Faculty :
Experts in the respective areas from premier institutions & organisations in the country, like Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (Pune), Centre of Atmospheric Science (IIT, Delhi), National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF, Noida), Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT, Cochin), Bharathiar University (Coimbatore), Indian Air Force and Indian Navy, etc., will contribute to the training programme.
Age Limit : 40 years and below (as on 10 December 2012).
Minimum Qualification : M. Sc. / M. Tech. in Physics / Meteorology / Maths / Atmospheric Sciences / Oceanography. Those who have appeared for final M. Sc. / M. Tech. examinations are also eligible, subject to production of results of the latest semester examination and forwarding letter from their respective Heads of Departments / Institutions. Due weightage will be given to Doctoral students, Postdoctoral research fellows, young lecturers, working meteorologists and other candidates nominated by the operational agencies.
Applications : Last date for receipt of completed applications is 12 October 2012. All the selected candidates will be intimated about their selection with other necessary details by SMS / E Mail / Post.
Organisation : The Training Programme is fully supported and sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. It is being organised jointly by the Air Force Administrative College and Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. Boarding & lodging and train travel (AC III) for the participants will be totally funded by the DST.
