Application in plain paper are invited from eligible candidates for the post of (i) Junior research fellow(JRF) and (ii) Project Assistant in a DBT project entitled “Polymorphism of IL28B gene and its association with response to treatment with Peg-Interferon alpha-2a/2b and Ribavir in combination in chronic hepatitis C virus infection from North Eastern India”, under the supervision ofDr. Subhash Medhi, Assistant Professor and P.I, Department of Biological Science, Gauhati University, Guwahati-781014 for a period of one year or till completion of the project.

1. Name of the Post : Junior research fellow (JRF)

Eligibility: M.Sc/M.Tech/B.Tech in Biotechnology/ M.B.B.S/B.Pharm with minimum 60% marks.
Desirable:
(i) Experience in Medical and Molecular Biology/Molecular Virology/Oncology. Candidates with prior experience in animal cell culture, cloning, protein purification are highly encouraged to apply
(ii) NET/GATE qualified candidates may be preferred.
Stipend: @ Rs. 16,000/- + 20% HRA for NET/GATE/BET/BINC Qualified otherwise @ Rs. 12,000/- + 20% HRA as per DBT norms for JRF

The University is looking for a suitable qualified persons for appointment for the following posts;

(iii) Working experience in the North East related Studies.

3. The minimum requirement of 55% marks at the Master’s degree level shall not be insisted upon for the existing incumbents who are already in the University system.
