    Pre-Sea Training Course :
    Applications are invited for admission to Pre-Sea Training Course for General Purpose Ratings.

    Tamil Nadu Maritime Academy, Thoothukudi, an institution approved by Directorate General of Shipping, Govt. of India offers Pre-Sea Training Course for General Purpose Ratings, which qualifies candidates to serve as Ratings onboard merchant navy ships (Indian and Foreign ships).

    NAME OF THE COURSE: PRE-SEA COURSE FOR GENERAL PURPOSE RATINGS.
    NUMBER OF SEATS: 40 Candidates (Reservation of seats will be as per the Government of Tamil Nadu Reservation Policy).
    MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTIONS: English.
    COURSE DURATION: 06 Months (Compulsory Residential).

    ELIGIBILITY:
    1. X standard pass from government recognized board with subjects English, Mathematics & Science with 40% aggregate. English 40% in X / XII.
    OR
    2. XII standard (any stream) pass from government recognized board with 40% aggregate. English 40% at X or XII but with subjects English, Mathematics & Science at X.
    OR
    3. Pass in 2 year ITI course approved by DVET with minimum 40% aggregate marks in final year of ITI & minimum 40% aggregate marks in final year of ITI & minimum 40% in English in X / XII.

    AGE:
    Candidates must have completed 17 ½ Years and should be below 25 Years of age on the date of commencement of course. Upper age limit is relaxable upto 5 years for SC/ST candidates An attested copy of Birth Certificate issued by the Registrar of Birth is to be enclosed as proof of evidence for date of birth.

    COURSE FEES:
    The course fees for Pre-Sea Course for General Purpose Rating is Rs. 1,50,000/- (Rupees one lakh and fifty thousand only) which is to be paid by the selected candidates in one installment directly to the Tamil Nadu Maritime Academy prior to commencement of the course.

    The course fees include tuition fees, STCW modular courses (EFA, PST, PSSR, FPFF, OTF,STSDSD & AUGFPFF), cost of course handouts, Examination Fee and expenses to attend Open Exit Examination, Fee for allotment of Indian National Database of Seafarers Number (INDOs), Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC), cost of uniforms & linen items, boarding and lodging expenses etc. only.

    No stipend is payable during the course period and candidates must be in possession of enough funds for their personal expenses including monthly hair cutting and washing and ironing charges.

    GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
    i. The applicant should ensure that he fulfills all the eligibility criteria regarding educational qualification, age, medical standards and standard eye test.

    ii. At any stage if it is detected that the applicant is not meeting with the requirements stipulated for the course or has furnished false/incorrect information, then his candidature will not be onsidered and if selected he will be removed from the course and he will forfeit the entire course fee.

    iii. The Academy takes no responsibility for any delay in receipt or loss in postal transit of any application or communication.

    iv. Applicants should affix colour photograph only in the application form and attach the Xerox/Attested Copies of certificates in support of Educational Qualification, date of birth and Community. No original certificates should be sent along with the applications.

    v. All communications should be made only to the address given in the application.

    vi. Institute is required to ensure that on board training is provided to the candidates after the successful completion of the course, which may be mandatory for obtaining a Certificate of Competency issued by the Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai.

    vii. After completion of training and obtaining CDC and INDOs Number the qualified trainees shall seek employment on their own onboard Indian/Foreign Flag Ships.

    HOW TO APPLY:
    Applicants who meet the above eligibility criteria must apply in ENGLISH ONLY. The application should be submitted in the prescribed form after affixing recent passport size colour photograph of the full face (front view).
