** Possess a certificate of competency as a Second Class Engineer of a steamship or a motor vessel issued by the Government of India or a certificate which has been declared to be its equivalent.
** Have experience of about one year in repairs and maintenance of steam power or diesel marine vessels.
** Provided that the age limit may be relaxed in favour of a candidate possessing exceptionally good qualifications or experience or both.
