Post Doctoral Fellowship To SC/ST Candidates For Year 2014-15 :
This scheme has been initiated keeping in view the social background of the candidates from the deprived section of the society and to provide them an opportunity to undertake advanced studies and research in Science, Engineering & Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences in Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges.

Objective :
The objective of the scheme is to provide an opportunity to SC/ST candidates to undertake Postdoctoral research in Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences in Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges

Eligibility :
i) The candidate must have a doctorate degree in the relevant subject preferably with published research work to their credit.
ii) The upper age limit for male applicants is 50 years as on 1st July of the year of application, and 55 years in the case of candidates. In exceptional cases, the age may be relaxed.
iii) Selection will be made on the basis of merit through Interface Mode by an Expert Committee constituted especially for the purpose.

Nature Of Assistance Available Under The Scheme :
The number of slots available under the scheme are 100 per year The tenure of the award is two years with no provision for further extension

The financial assistance available under the scheme is as follows :
Rate of Fellowship :(Revised w. e. f. 01.04.2009)
1. Fellowship :
AT Rs. 25,000/- p.m. for first 2 years & Rs.30,000/-p.m. from third years onwards.

2. Contingency :
AT Rs.50,000/-p.a.

3. Departmental Assistance :
Not applicable

4. Escorts/Reader /Assistance :
AT Rs. 2,000/- p.m. (fixed) in cases of physically disabled & blind Candidate.

5. HRA :
As per University/Institution rules

Tenure of Award : Five Years

HRA :
Post Doctoral Fellowship provided with accommodation in hostel recognized/ maintained by the institutions may be reimbursed the hostel fee, excluding mess, electricity, water charges, etc. A certificate to this effect is to be furnished through the Registrar/Director/Principal (Annexure-II). If Post Doctoral Fellow makes his/her own arrangements of accommodation, he/she may be entitled to draw HRA as per categorization of the cities by the Government of India. The Post Doctoral Fellow will submit a certificate for this purpose to the UGC for claiming HRA through the concerned University/Institution/College.

Mandatory attachments required during submission of online application :
Applicant will be required to upload scanned copies of the following documents while applying online :
1. Caste Certificate (SC/ST)
2. Age Proof Certificate. (e.g. Birth Certificate, School Leaving Certificate etc)
3. Post Graduation Marksheet (Final)
4. Ph.D Awarded Certificate
5. Physical Disability Certificate (if applicable)

Note :
Candidate will not be able to submit their application unless above mentioned documents are uploaded.

Steps to fill-in the online form :
Step-1 : Personal Information including caste and physical disability certificate (if applicable). A candidate registration id is generated on completion of step 1 that can be used for generating a pdf file once submission process is completed.
Step-2 : Research Work including subject, research topic, department etc.
Step-3 : Other Information including Paper published details & Scholarships/Present employement etc.
Step-4 : Declaration
