    Post Graduate Scholarships for Professional Courses for SC/ST Candidates For The Year 2014-15

    INTRODUCTION :
    The scheme has been initiated keeping in view the social background of the candidates from the deprived section of the society and to provide them opportunity to undertake postgraduate level studies in Professional subjects like Engineering & Technology, Management, Pharmacy etc. in Indian Universities/Institutions/ Colleges.

    OBJECTIVE :
    The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to 1000 SC/ST candidates to pursue postgraduate level studies in Professional subjects at recognized Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges.

    ELIGIBILITY:
    i) The candidate must have obtained Graduate degree in the relevant subject and obtained admission at Postgraduate level for regular full time course in any of the Professional subject in a recognized University/Institution/College.
    ii) Candidates pursuing post graduate course in professional subjects by correspondence or by Distance Education mode are not eligible to receive financial assistance under this scheme.
    iii) The upper age limit for male applicants is 45 years as on 1st July on the year of application, and 50 years in the case of female candidates. In exceptional cases, the age may be relaxed.

    NATURE OF ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE UNDER THE SCHEME:
    The number of slots available under the scheme are 1000 per year. The tenure of award is for two/three years depending upon tenure of the postgraduate course.

    The financial assistance available under the scheme is as follows:
    Scholarship :
    @Rs.5,000/- per month (ME/M.Tech)
    @Rs.3,000/- per month for other courses.
    Contingency A :
    @Rs.15,000/- per annum(ME/M.Tech)
    @Rs.10,000/- per annum for other courses.

    Procedure for release of grant by the UGC :
    On receipt of duly completed application form of the candidate together with required documents and based on the merit of the candidate the UGC office shall release the first instalment of the admissible grant to the concerned institution(Annexure II). Thereafter, the grant shall be released on receipt of the Utilisation Certificate and statement of expenditure for the last grant paid (Annexures- III, IV). On completion of the scholarship, an audited utilisation certificate is to be submitted by the University/Institution/College from which the candidate has completed the PG Programme.

    Procedure for monitoring the Progress of the candidate :
    The progress of the candidate shall be monitored by the head of the department. The candidate is required to submit a yearly progress report duly signed by the Head of the Department and Registrar of the University or Head of the Institution or Principal of the College. The scholarship shall stop after the last academic year of the programme (Annexure-V).

    closing date for ugc emeritus fellowship has been extended from 16.8.14 to October 20th, 2014 ?

    I am a Superannuated college Associate Professor. The date of superannuation is 30.04.2011. Ph.d work apart, I am Premchand Roychand Research scholar from the university of Calcutta. ICPR , New Delhi awarded me a fellowship on The Epistemology of Perception" which ultimately was published by myself in the form of a Book entitled " Perceiving In Monism"/ Kolkata Price- Rs 300/year 2006. UGC awarded me a MRP to work on another project which was duly completed and the report was submitted to UGC in due time. Another Book was published by Vikas Publishing/ Noida entitled "HUMAN RIGHTS : THEORY and PRACTICE
