CBSE Writing Series 2014 :
** The Board is committed to the holistic development of the learners and it strongly advocates a creative and supportive environment in schools. The Board strongly feels that the generation today should also be made aware of the selfless and valiant services of the women and men who have served the nation.
** CBSE announces Writing Series, and now invites entries from the students on the inspirational life of Sri Pingali Venkayya. This writing series will be conducted from the 5th -11th August 2014. The entries are invited in English, Hindi or Telugu. A practice round will be conducted on the 4th August to acquaint participants with the process. Winners will be announced on the 12th August 2014 and felicitated on 14th August 2014 at Delhi.
** This activity will be conducted in both online and offline modes. It is not merely a competitive activity but will also provide a platform to learn from others- through –blogs, wikis. Social media like Facebook and Twitter will be extensively used to popularize the submitted entries and also for the selection of winning entries through peer voting! A fresh topic on Sri Pingali Venkayya will be announced everyday and each of the best 68 entries will get a chance to win a prize of Rs. 5,000/-. All participants will also get an online participation certificate. The final 6 plus 8 winners (6 selected on the basis of popular choice + 8 chosen by the Expert panel) will win an all expense paid trip to Delhi, to see Heritage of Delhi. They will also receive a prize of Rs. 20,000/- each.
** Those participating through online mode can directly key-in their responses through the link available on www.cbseacademic.in, starting 4th August, 2014. This activity can also be conducted offline by the schools and the entries can be sent through mail to cbsewriting AT gmail.com. The entries can also be sent using mobile. Refer to guidelines given in Annexure-I-III for further details.
Guidelines :
A. General :
1. All students of schools affiliated to CBSE can participate in the competition.
2. Online participation certificates shall be given daily to each participant, certificate of merit and prizes will be given to the best 68 participants selected every day and certificate of excellence along with other prizes will be given to final 6 plus 8 participants at the national level.
3. The participants should give their entries only during the hours prescribed in the schedule below.
4. The entries can be typed and sent online using the link on the website.
5. In case of hand written entries, the scanned copy/ image of the entry shall be sent as an email attachment to cbsewriting AT gmail.com.
6. In case of the entries sent by email on cbsewriting@gmail.com please mention the following details : Name of Participant, Father’s/Guardian’s Name, Class, School Name, District, State and Mobile Number.
7. Entry can also be sent using mobile as per procedure given in Annexure III.
8. In order to enable CBSE to transfer prize money, if declared prize winner, participants should provide their correct bank account numbers. If participants do not have a bank account, the account number of their parents, duly verified by their principals, can be given.
B. Schedule :
1. The practice session will be held on 4th August, 2014 between 11 :30-12:00 noon on the topic to be announced on that day and time.
2. The open competition will begin from Tuesday, the 5th August, 2014 and will continue till Monday, the 11th August 2014.
3. The entries shall be open daily for fixed duration as per the schedule given in the Annexure 2.
4. Topic for each day relating to Sri Pingali Venkayya will be announced just before the beginning of the competition.
5. The winners shall be announced on 12th August 2014.
6. 68 best entries shall be selected on all the seven days by a panel of experts and awarded a cash prize of Rs.5000 /-directly transferred through online banking.
7. For the finals, 6 plus 8 entries (6 through popular choice+ 8 through a panel of experts) will be selected and shall be awarded a cash prize of Rs.20, 000/-directly transferred through online banking.
C. Quality :
1. The entries should not exceed the limit of the words mentioned.
2. The entries/ writings must be original.
3. The principals need to ensure that the entries being submitted by the students are not plagiarized.
4. Students can refer to as many resources as they can avail, however the entries submitted must be in their own language.
D. For the students :
1. You need to research on the topic.
2. You need to make your notes before taking the assessment, as you will have only 10-15 minutes before writing the task.
3. Focus on the writing task and stick to the word limit.
4. The window will be open only for a certain period of time so do not waste time on collecting more material.
5. Your understanding and point of view is more important than facts and dense information.
Schedule :
Practice Session 4th August 2014 :11.30AM to 12.00 Noon
Day 1- 5th August 2014 : 11.30 AM -12.00 noon (Maximum 250 words)
Day 2- 6th August 2014 : 11.30 am to 12.15 noon (Maximum 300 words)
Day 3- 7th August 2014 :11.30 am to 12.30 noon (Maximum 500 words)
Day 4 - 8th August 2014 : 11.30 am to 12.45 noon (Maximum 600 words)
Day 5 - 9th August 2014 : 11.30 am to 1.00 pm (Maximum 800 words)
Day 6 -10th August 2014 : 11.30 am -1.15 pm (Maximum 1100 words)
Day 7 - 11th August 2014 : 11.30 am to 1.30 (Maximum 1500 words)
Note :
1. Topics will be available each day at 11 :30 am on the CBSE website www.cbseacadmic.in
2. Submission window will close on each day exactly at the time mentioned above; no entry will be accepted thereafter.
3. All times indicated above are in IST.
4. The time duration indicated above is the total available time, including the time taken to submit responses.
Procedure for sending entries using mobile phones (Available from 05/08/2014 at 10 :00 am):
1. Make a Missed Call at 0120-4763981
2. 1st SMS sent from CBSE Name -, Father's/Guardian's Name-, Class -, School Name-, District -, State -, Alternate Mobile No.-,
3. Student will provide the details through SMS in continuity by writing above details in above mentioned sequence, each entry separated by a coma
4. 2nd SMS sent from CBSE Thanks for providing the details Your Registration No. is ...........................
5.3rd SMS sent from CBSE on each of the scheduled date and time of the competition. Your Topic is ................ and your time limit is from 11 :00 AM - (predetermined time as per annexure), dated ............./8/2014
6.Student will write his/her response within the prescribed word limit and time limit on a blank sheet . Before begining he/she will write the following details : Name - , Father's/Guardian's Name -, Class -, School -, School Address - Student's Email - , Topic of the Day-, Passport size photograph (pasted) -,
7. After completing the work capture/click the photograph of your written page through the mobile and send the same through WhatsApp at 07042745234. please note that the responses will not be accepted after the expiry of prescribed time limit.
