Banana Project Based Research Positions

National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Mohali, is an autonomous R&D Institute under Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The institute carries out cutting edge research at the interface of agricultural biotechnology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, food processing, postharvest technology, and nutritional sciences. Applications are invited for the following positions under externally funded project “Transfer and Evaluation of Indian Banana with Pro-Vitamin A (PVA) Constructs

1 Name of the position : Project Scientist
Number of Position : One
Age limit as on the last date : 35 years
Remuneration : Consolidated @ Rs.40,000/- per month.
Area : Plant Metabolic Engineering and Molecular Biology
Essential Qualification : Ph.D. awarded in any branch of life/plant sciences
Desirable Qualification :
a) Excellent academic record with research experience in area relevant to plant metabolic engineering and molecular biology
b) Knowledge and experience of Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry based technological analysis of samples and standardization of methodologies for fractionation, separation and identification of bio-molecules.
c) Relevant research publications in reputed international journals with five or more cumulative impact factor.

2. Name of the position : Project Fellow
Number of Positions : Two
Age limit as on the last date : 35 years
Remuneration : Consolidated @ Rs.16, 000/- per month for first 2 years and Rs.18,000/- per month after 2 years.
Area : Plant Genetic Engineering and Molecular Biology
Essential Qualification : Ist Class M.Sc./M.Tech. in Life Science/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry
Desirable Qualification : Excellent academic record with interest and knowledge of plant genetic transformation and molecular biology.

3. Name of the position : Lab/Field Project Assistant
Number of Positions : Two
Age limit as on the last date : 28 year
Remuneration : Consolidated @ Rs.10,000/- per month as per NABI rules.
Area : Plant Tissue Culture, Genetic Transformation and Research Farm related activities
Essential Qualification : M.Sc /B. Tech or higher degree in Life Science/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Botany/ Agriculture/Agronomy
Desirable qualification :
a) Prior knowledge/experience in plant tissue culture, genetic transformation and maintenance of transgenic plant materials under in-vitro and containment conditions.
b) Prior knowledge/experience for performing various farm related operations and field experiments.
c) Basic knowledge of computer such as MS Office, Excel, Powerpoint, Internet etc.
