Application are invited from willing Gurkha male candidates settled in India/ Nepal for filling up of 328 vacancies in the rank of Gurkha Sepoys in Odisha Special Armed Police, OSAP 2nd Battalion, Jharsuguda, Odisha.

The recruitment test will be held w.e.f. 11.11.2013 at OSAP 2nd Battalion, Jharsuguda, Odisha and at Kunraghat of Gorakhpur district(Uttar Pradesh) in the months of November/December, 2013

Age Limit : The age of the candidate must be between 18-25 years as on 01.01.2013.
Scale Of Pay : Rs. 5,200- 20,200/- and Grade Pay of Rs. 2,000/- with other allowance as admissible time to time

Eligibility : A Candidate must be a bonafide Gurkha and an inhabitant of Nepal or India. The Gurkha Candidate residing in India must have registered his name in any of the Employment Exchanges of the concerned State before the date of advertisement for recruitment. Gurkhas of Nepal must be in possession of valid Citizenship of Nepal. Women candidates are not eligible for recruitment.

Educational Qualification : A candidate must have passed Class-VII or equivalent examination from any recognized institution. However, the candidates who have passed H.S.C. or equivalent examination will be given preference.

Physical Standards :
The candidates must be of sound health and free from organic defects and physical deformity. The minimum physical standard is as follows;
i) Height: -158 Cms
ii) Weight: 50 Kgs.
iii) Chest : 79 Cm (Un-expanded); 84 Cms (Expanded)

Physical Test :
The candidates will be put through a physical test as prescribed below.
i) Run-1.6 Kms (within 6 minutes),
ii) Cross Country-5 Kms (within 40 minutes),
iii) Broad Jump- 3.66 Mtrs. in 3 chances,
iv) High Jump- 1.22 Mtrs. in 3 chances.
Failure in any of the above test shall lead to disqualification and the candidate so disqualified will not be allowed to compete further in the recruitment test.

Viva-Voce : The candidates who qualify in the physical tests shall have to appear in a Viva-Voce test to be conducted by the Selection Board and 10 marks will be awarded for the viva-voce test.

Odia Test : Since the Gurkha candidates are not familiar with Odia language they are exempted from Odia test. However, the selected candidates have to pass the Odia test within 3 years of service which is a part of their training curriculum.
