This is a letter of recommendation for Mr. Dorian Smithey. Mr. Smithey worked for
Tradesource/JBM, Inc. on a recent million-dollar shut down in Jesup, Georgia at the
Rayonier Jesup Mill as a supervisor. During this time Mr. Smithey supervised and
managed approximately 20 welders and a crew of helpers.
In working with Mr. Smithey, I have developed the utmost respect and confidence in his ability as a shift supervisor, and was highly impressed with his abilities and knowledge in the welding field.
Mr. Smithey is an all-around top quality person and many times during this crucial shut down exhibited strong skills in managing workers and also in performing the work himself under extremely trying circumstances. Mr. Smithey’s concern for the welfare of his personnel which he was supervising as to safety and taking care of the personnel in general has very much impressed me and our client, JBM.
Any company would be lucky to have Dorian on their team and we would further recommend him highly for any position in which he would apply.

This letter is in regard to Mr. Dorian Smithey and his employment with Antarctic Support Associates from 1998 though 2000.
I worked with Mr. Smithey for two seasons with the now Defunct Antarctic Support Associates (ASA). From October 98 thru February 99 Mr. Smithey was employed as a certified Pipefitter and welder with ASA. During the season of October 99 thru February 2000, Mr. Smithey was hired as a Sr. Construction Coordinator and oversaw the construction of two 2.2 million gallon fuel tanks at McMurdo station. In the capacity of Sr.. Construction Coorinator, Mr. Smithey acted both as welding inspector, overseeing the work of subcontract welders, and as a project manager for this construction project.
Antarctic Support Associates (ASA), had the contract with the National Science Foundation from 1990 to 2000 to perform all contract work in Antarctica for the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Raytheon Polar Services Co won the contract in 2000 and is now the primary contractor for the National Science Foundation in the USAP. Antarctic Support Associates dissolved as a company after loosing this contact. Many of the employees transferred to the new company, but the company itself is not the same legal entity now.
