The optimized formula composed of HPMC E50, Carbapol and lactose in the ratio 50 [/b]:50:98 mg respectively. It may be attached to the human cheek without collapse for atleast 10hrs. The Rabeprazole sodium buccal adhesive tablet would be useful to deliver Rabeprazole sodium which degrades very rapidly in acidic aqueous medium and undergoes hepatic first-pass metabolism after oral administration.
