The Middle Office functions include :
I. Handling Exceptions
Ideally every operation is Straight Through Processing without manual intervention in every part of trade life cycle. But there are exceptions in every step starting from trade capture to settlements.
Whenever there are trade exceptions stuck, immediately they need to be cleared to ensure smooth settling of the trade with out any failures.
II. Client Queries
1. Sending various types of confirmations to clients.
- Confirmations like E-mail, Fax and ETC confirmations are sent to clients otherwise the trades will not get settled.
2. Handling the Customer queries and responding to them immediately
3. Sending the additional confirmations to clients.
4. Maintaining good rapport with the clients
III. Booking the trades
5. Amending the Agency and Proprietary trades’ based on the client request.
6. Booking Stock Borrow Trades.
7. Chasing the clients if there is any discrepancy in Settlement Instructions.
IV. China A Market
8. Reconciliation of trades executed by China Exchange and trades done by FROST team.
9. Classifying the trades based on the clients.
10. Booking the trades and calculating the commission and sending the confirmations to the clients.
11. Writing off the residual balance to various ledgers.
V. Preparation of KPIs
1. Performing Time and Motion study for each process and subprocess
2. Preparation of Capacity Planning Model for the new process that are migrated
3. . Presently drafting the KPI for the Globalisation of Client support project for effective reporting and capacity planning purposes.
