Job Description:
To assist in identifying needs and providing cost effective technical solutions to
maintain or improve the pavement asset to the standards agreed considering the
Needs of key stakeholders to budget and program.
Business Outcome:
Design and construction budgets achieved for pavement renewal schemes. Profit
made on highways design elements of the portfolio undertaken by the Pavement
Engineer.

Principal Responsibilities / Key Duties:


• To prepare designs, reports, specifications and other deliverables for
pavements schemes
• To allocate tasks to other members of the Pavements Team and monitor
progress
• To monitor the designs produced to ensure they meet the design briefs
• To ensure designs are appropriate and meet the expected levels of technical
excellence
• To seek innovation in the delivery of schemes and techniques used to design
and construct them
• To ensure the quality system is actively applied to all pavements schemes

Desired Candidate Profile:
• Basic Project Management Skills
• Competent in Pavement Engineering
• Understanding of Environmental Requirements of Pavement schemes
• Basic knowledge of Quality Management
• Good communication skills
• Detailed knowledge of design codes (DMRB / MCDHW etc) relevant to
Pavement Engineering
• Knowledge of the use of computer design tools
Experience
• Appropriate recent experience in Pavement Engineering
• Recent experience of leading small design teams and coordinating interfaces
with other discipline,
• Experience in the design and construction of highways schemes
Desirable:
• Presentation skills.
• Technical excellence.
• Strong communications skills to be able to unambiguously communicate
targets, and priorities.
