Title : ‘Design and In Vitro Evaluation of Gastro Retentive Sustained Release Tablets of Captopril.’
Duration : 06 months
Synopsis :Project was undertaken with the objective of developing once a daily formulation (tablet) of captopril (antihypertensive drug). The drug is available in market in thrice daily regimen. Different types of polymers were used in the project both in combination and alone, and the best combination of the polymers and the optimum concentration was selected by taking different batches and comparing the dissolution profiles with theoretical profile. Finally the formulation was developed which serves as once daily formulation. The data of dissolution profiles were fitted in to various kinetic models and the drug release mechanism models describing the drug release for the final formulation. The stability of the final formulation was checked by performing the accelerated stability testing as per I.C.H. guidelines.
