Job Description:
Serve as the demonstration-trials coordinator on the Ultra Rice project:
o Lead the design and implementation of all Ultra Rice demonstration trials across all four Ultra Rice project countries.
- With support from the Ultra Rice and country-based teams,
identify appropriate research partners.
- Design trials and work with country teams and/or partners and consultants in project countries to obtain necessary approvals.
- Pursue trial funding by contributing to proposal writing, as needed.
- Develop trial implementation plans, engage key implementation partners, train partners, develop quality control measures, and manage the trials.
- Oversee the analysis of data resulting from the trials.
- Develop and disseminate findings from demonstration trials: manage the development of white papers and manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals that are drafted by research partners.
o Present findings at relevant meetings and conferences.
o Review protocols and provide feedback to research groups conducting demonstration trials outside of our four project countries.
o Supervise external consultants, as needed.

Required Skills
• Knowledge and demonstrable skills in a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to develop research protocols, data collection tools, process data for institutional review, organize and conduct training and data-gathering activities, data synthesis and analysis, quality control measures, and report writing.
• Good computer skills and past experience using quantitative/qualitative software.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated ability to manage the process and edit scientific papers.
• Demonstrated ability to work in teams and interact with diverse colleagues.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multiple socio-economic settings and with multi-cultural groups in India.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government and other high-level officials.
• Willing to travel, both domestically and internationally.
Required Experience
• Advanced degree in nutrition or related degree (MS or PhD), with post-doctoral experience in health research.
• Experience with an international development organization and/or on multi-country projects.
• In-depth knowledge of at least one programmatic area of health.
• Track record in supervising research teams.
• Experience in both qualitative and quantitative health research.

The Maternal & Child Health/Nutrition (MCHN) Global Program works to apply effective, innovative approaches that broaden access to and use of key interventions that address the most pressing causes of deaths, poor health, and poor nutritional status among mothers and children in the developing world. Projects range from multi-country efforts to improve infant and child feeding, reduce post-partum hemorrhage, prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV and other diseases, and improve newborn and child health through manufacturing, commercialization, and introduction of foods fortified with micronutrients. MCHN currently has activities in approximately 45 countries with an annual budget of $10.9 million; additional large, joint activities with PATH country programs; and support from multiple donors.
Ultra Rice is a PATH nutrition project under the MCHN umbrella. Ultra Rice premix is a micronutrient-fortified manufactured (extruded) food product, developed to address the nutritional deficiencies in populations by establishing sustainable demand and supply for fortified rice in four countries: Brazil, Colombia, China, and India. The Ultra Rice process involves extruded Ultra Rice premix kernels, fortified with required micronutrients, to be blended with normal rice at a specified ratio to achieve rice fortification.
