Job Description:
Battelle Science & Technology India Pvt. Ltd., an affiliate of Battelle Memorial Institute, has established an office in Pune, India. Battelle India will initially focus on advanced materials research and developing water-related technologies. Eventually, research may expand into the areas of health and life sciences and energy.
Position Responsibilities
Successful candidate will understand fundamentals of electrochemistry, kinetics of electrochemical reactions, and applied aspects of electrochemistry.
- Conduct and/or lead major technical projects with minimal guidance and within time and budget constraints.
- Develop test plans and protocols; design, conduct and supervise electrochemical experiments related to batteries, capacitors, fuel cells, solar cells, corrosion systems, and electrochemical synthesis.
- Analyze electrochemical data with a focus on mechanistic understanding;
- Write reports and present findings.
- Be expected to work with teams to propose new ideas in electrochemical components and systems, and to help secure funding in these areas.
- Maintain both formal and informal communications and relationships with clients.
Required Qualifications
- Masters or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Material Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, Electrochemical Engineering or other closely-related physical science.
- Research experience is required in one or more of the following: industrial electrolytic processes, batteries, fuel cells, solar cells, other electrochemical devices (e.g., capacitors, supercapacitors, transducers, and actuators), corrosion of metals, and electrochemical analyses. Post-doctoral research is an advantage.
- In-depth knowledge is required in one or more of the following: cyclic voltammetry, electrocatalysis and electrosynthesis, membrane electrode assembly fabrication and characterization, fuel cell testing (single-cell and stacks up to 15 kW), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and other electrochemical characterization and diagnostic methods.
- Good English communication skills both written and spoken are essential.
- Ability to innovate, as demonstrated by publications and patents.
- Prior experience with grant or proposal writing.
- Ability to work with clients.
