I am a paediatric registrar in UK.
Please take it from me , these jobs have no long term future and are designed to exploit you.
And dont ever go for Medacs, they pay very low rates.

I work as Specialist Registrar in the UK (seriously thinking of leaving the UK) and my advice is avoid UK and Medacs like you would avoid plague.

Lot of sweet talk, promises and 'dream come true' picture but the reality is far from truth. Right now there is severe shortage of junior and middle grade doctors in the UK. If they start recruiting from non-EU countries then there will be a surplus within no time even for these jobs (which no locals want to work in), that is when the non-EU doctors will be 'played with'.

Last week the UK home minister reported that they are likely to place curbs on new immigrants bringing in their families. Those of you who are considering comming to the UK either on your own or through Medacs/other locum agencies please don't think about short term prospects, think what you would be doing 2, 3 or even 5 years later. When you are young you might think you will give it a try for a year or two but remember you will never regain the time you have lost (especially precious time of your youth). There are better and fairer places in the world for people to go and work if keen to be out of India.

Hey

Medacs do both permanent and locum stuff. They are one of the biggest suppliers of Doctor's to the NHS with the locum stuff - lots of UK based Doctors work for them, so I don't think the pay is that bad. Me personally I attended an interview with Medacs for a permanent clinical fellow job in London - the team have always been professional, friendly - the hospital is great - I had my flight paid for, money towards my visa and also free accomodation when I arrived in the UK. My wife is a nurse and they are now helping her find work here in the UK - helping her with her complicated registration and through immigration.

Don't believe the previous blogs - probably agencies that want to charge you money!

Medacs Healthcare are one of the most reputable companies I know. I have interviewed with them and been offered an SHO training job in England. There were no problems - they helped with my CV and are now booking my flight in time for an August start - it was easy to get a job with their help!
