Title : “Genetic transformation and physio-morpho-molecular analysis of transgenic plants in Mungbean (Vigna radiate L.)”
Thesis Advisor : Assistant Prof.,Dr. I.C.Mohanty
Brief summary : Mungbean (Vigna radiate L.) (2n=22), family Leguminosae (sub family: Fabaceae), is an important grain legume crop and a good source of dietary protein. Traditional cultivars and high yielding varieties are highly vulnerable to abiotic stresses like flash floods, drought, chilling temperature, soil alkalinity, salinity, etc. Abiotic stress (Drought, Salinity, Cold stress is the primary cause of crop loss reducing average 20%. So far no high yielding cultivar has been developed that can withstand cold stress in mungbean. The CBF genes, which are rapidly induced in response to low temperature, encode transcriptional activators that control expression of a genes containing the C- repeat/dehydration responsive element DNA regulatory element in their promoter, so using the construct which contain rd29A::CBF3/DREB1A develop the transgenic Mungbean against colt stress.
