Job Description:
The selected candidates will join SuperValu’s Research and Analytics team as a subject matter expert on statistical modeling and data mining techniques for executing projects in the area of Marketing, Merchandizing etc

The primary tool for modeling will be SAS (SAS/STAT and Enterprise Miner 5.3) available through EG environment. All the data for customer purchase transactions, merchandizing, store operations etc is housed in Teradata having more than terabytes of data.

Ad-hoc projects in the sphere of CRM Analytics (Likelihood to defect, Campaign Offer Optimization etc), Market Basket Analysis, and Merchandizing Analytics etc will be executed. Will have end-to-end responsibility - sample definition, extraction/preparation, exploratory data analysis, model building, validation and scoring

Analysts will also lend their expertise in performing test of hypotheses for scorecards etc (Is a 2% increase in total basket value statistically significant. What about business significance of this increase)

Desired Candidate Profile:
Must Have -

At least 1 year of statistical modeling experience in marketing/merchandising analytics.

Should have built predictive models pertaining to customer loyalty etc

Experience in handling huge transactional level data from multiple databases.

Building a strong business context and being able to pro-actively seek out the why/what/how of a project is paramount for success in this role.

Would be expected to relate patterns in data with trends/information available from other sources.

Should be able to explain statistical techniques, interpret the results and provide recommendations to the senior management.

Proficient in SAS. SPSS can be accepted in lieu of SAS in case of strong SQL skills.

Strong skills in MS Office – Excel and PowerPoint

Master’s in a Quantitative discipline (Statistics/Operations Research/Mathematics/Economics) from reputed institutions (like ISI) is absolutely essential.

Desired -

Official SAS Base certification.

Knowledge of US retail industry business.

Knowledge of Excel VBA.
