I have completed MSW (Master of social work) with specialization in Urban and rural community development and 'Post Graduate Diploma in Slum Study and development’ from Mumbai University. In all, I have experience of 10 years in the social work field (both urban and rural) with NACO, USAID, AVERT Society, Children Future Norway, Govt, OIDB agency and Dr Reddy’s Foundation (CSR).
At present, I am working with the Dr Reddy’s Foundation (CSR) as Assistant Manager (Operations) for the LABS Project

• Working as ‘Assistant Manager – Operation’ in Dr. Reddy’s Foundation for their LABS project (CSR project of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory
LABS addresses the needs of youth (18-35 years) who are constrained by low income levels, inadequate skills, irregular employment, absence of opportunities for training and development, family indebtedness and little bargaining power at the economic or social level.
To enable these youth to gain a foothold in the competitive job market, LABS gives them livelihood and soft skills in an environment of interactive learning and mentoring that develops their inherent strengths. The curriculum is constantly upgraded in tune with industry requirements. The aspirants are also put through intensive Communicative English, on-the-job training and work-readiness modules, to help them understand the workplace better.
Duration: 1st September 10 to till date
Responsibility:
a. Coordinating activities pertaining to the project implementation.

• Worked as ‘Cluster Co-ordinator’ in Kherwadi Social Welfare Association under the project Yuva Parivartan (Vocational Training Providers)
Yuva Parivartan (YP) is the movement, initiated in 1999, which aims to transform and equip less educated & deprived dropouts and youth to earn a livelihood and to live independent and responsible lives. The objective is attained through providing vocational training and community engagement. There are 30 vocational training centers across Maharashtra and Bangalore.
Duration: 1st March 09 to 31st August 10
Responsibility: Being cluster co-ordinator, operational in charge of 10 vocational training centers and IRDP project located in Thane, Mumbai and Raigad districts. The job demands target setting, monitoring and evaluation of all these training centers. Being an operational in charge also be part of policy making, yearly planning and budget preparation at VTC’s which helps to smoothen the operational systems. Also identify the needs of the staff and accordingly arrange capacity building, skill enhancement programmes for them.
Moreover, networking and rapport building with different Govt. department, NGOs, CBOs, and SHGs is an integral part of my responsibilities.
• Worked as ‘Project Co-ordinator’ in Bridge Charitable Trust for their project ‘Boond’
The Organisation is dedicated to promote a sustainable process towards a dignified quality of life for tribal communities characterized by access to basic education and primary health care, safe drinking water and hygienic living conditions. Also, it provides vocational training to help them to secure livelihood and also aims to enhance self-reliance and self-esteem.
Duration: 1st Dec 2007 till 28th February 2009
Responsibility: It involves identification of different villages in need of Water Harvesting Projects; after identification of tribal villages in Thane District, convincing villagers and developing a confidence amongst them regarding the project is very challenging. Then, it comes to implementation of the same with the help of community participation.
Apart from this ‘Boond Project’, also a part of implementation of different schemes (Govt. agency and privet donor) of village development with special focuses on agriculture development and health awareness.
• Worked as ‘Development Promoter’ in Children Future India (NGO) undertaking of Children Future Norway
The organisation intervenes and facilitates to improve and empower children and communities in need. Special focus is given on education of children.
Duration: 1st June 2006 to 30th November 2007
Responsibility: Job responsibilities involved identification of children in need within the community area, arrangement of sponsorship for such children, further follow up of progress of each sponsored child.
For enrichment of children, various sessions on health awareness, personality development and vocational trainings were conducted. Special support and guidance for education was offered
Some administrative work like preparing a budget for individual child, organizing and budgeting some community based activities and monthly reporting was also an additional responsibility
• Worked as ‘Project co-ordinator’ in slum intervention project (HIV/AIDS) undertaken jointly by AVERT Society and Yuvak Pratishthan (NGO).
The objective of this project is to create awareness and prevention of further spread of HIV/ AIDS amongst slum communities.
Duration: 1st September 2002 to 31st May 2006
Responsibility: Focus was on administrative work, project planning, capacity building of the staff, enabling environment and advocacy of the intervention programme
Core area was training of trainers, training of peer educators, & counseling of selected cases
Achievements:
Joined the project as a counselor and promoted to Project coordinator’s post in a year’s time
Appointed as a member on State level committee for designing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Material by AVERT Society and Birds Institute.
• Worked as ‘Counselor’ in slum intervention project (HIV/AIDS) undertaken jointly by AVERT Society and Yuvak Pratishthan (NGO)
Responsibility:
As a Counselor focus was on HIV Pre-test & Post-test Counseling, Sexual Transmission infection and disease Counseling, Condom Counseling. Arranging Training Programs for Peer Educators, Health Care provider, Outreach Workers for STI / AIDS Awareness & Condom promotion. Prepared and Published Information Education & communication material.
• Appointed as ‘Social Worker’ as per Mumbai University norms in Ruia Collage N.S.S. Unit, Matunga
Duration: 1999 to 2002
Responsibilities:
Prepared a report on the problem of rescued children at Chembur Children home through individual interaction with such children Issues realized during this project were brought to the notice of Senior Managerial staff which had helped them while designing polices for these children
Initiated slum development programme for slum located Ganesh Nagar, Wadala. Under this Community based Rehabilitation project various programmes on health awareness, adult education, vocational trainings were organized.
Organized poster exhibitions and Street plays for Tobacco eradication, Prevention from HIV/AIDS and on various issues of Social Importance to create awareness amongst College students and youth
