RESUME OF PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION:

From a humble beginning as a Research Scholar in CSIR, today I am working as General Manager (w.e.f. January 2005) in NHPC Limited, a premier organization of the Country in the field of hydropower development, having authorized share capital of Rs.150 billion and an investment base of about Rs.365 billion.
I have around 34 years of experience in the ambit of Engineering Geology with state of the art technology during reconnaissance, construction, operation & maintenance stages of hydroelectric project in most complex and challenging terrain. The work involves search of site for project structures viz. dam, water conductor system (channel/tunnel/ shaft), powerhouse; evaluation of reservoir competency; appraisal of infrastructure including road, bridge and colony site etc. In essence, the sphere of my professional activity encompasses the following:

(i) General Administration:
- Adopting the best practices of corporate governance and value based management to investigate, execute and operate hydroelectric projects in a cost effective, environment friendly, socio-economic responsive manner.

(ii) Engineering geological Studies:
- Overall planning, programming and execution of surface and subsurface geological, geotechnical & geophysical investigations.
- Construction material survey from basin evaluation to its utility as coarse/ fine aggregate and impervious material.
- Preparation of Dependable Detail Project Report.
- Attending to major construction activities and post construction remedial measures.

(iii) Geomechanical Studies:
- Evaluation of foundation and abutments through drilling/ drifting and conducting fracturation, permeability, SPT and slope stability analysis. Rendering advice on consolidation/ cut off grouting and other corrective methods.
- Evaluation of rock mass properties and rock stress measurements for defining the pattern of excavation and support system.
- Evaluation of instrumental data for evolving remedial measures in surface and underground works.

(iv) Laboratory Studies:
- Petrology for rock type identification and construction material.
- Engineering properties of rock.
- Aerial photo and satellite imagery for evaluation of geological, geomorphological and land use pattern.

(v) Seismological Studies:
- Evaluation of seismicity of the area for arriving at the safe seismic design parameter for project
components.

As General Manager, I have the responsibility of unraveling administrative & engineering geological issues of hydroelectric projects for sustainable development of hydro potential at faster pace & optimum cost with International standards.
