    Job Description:
    JOB SUMMARY

    The Mechanical Supervisor provides work direction and supervision for the craftsmen within his team to perform maintenance and repair work (Piping Fabrication and Rigging) on facilities and equipment within his area of responsibility.

    MAJOR DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

    - Reviews work requests (Notifications) with originator and planner to establish / agree on the scope of work.
    - Provides input into the planning process by identifying detailed resource and special equipment requirements.
    - Provides input to the planning process by ensuring adequate provision is made for safety and permit requirements.
    - Provides input and updates into the scheduling process with other disciplines and operations involvement.
    - Ensures that maintenance activities assigned to his team gets carried out with absolute focus on safety requirements in strict compliance to Sipchem safety policies.
    - Ensures that work is carried out in compliance to Sipchem maintenance work instructions and procedures or the approved quality control plans.
    - Ensures that maintenance work is carried out as per agreed schedule.
    - Ensures that all fabrication is done as per Inspection and Test plan and confirms to applicable specification / code.
    - Provides on the job training and assessments to ensure that craftsmen under his control are competent to execute maintenance activities as per Sipchem work instructions.
    - Provides input to discipline engineers during root cause failure analysis.
    - Ensures that repairs to equipment get carried out as per the approved repair plans.
    - Perform necessary transactions in SAP to confirm actual work carried out and capture repair history in notifications.
    - Closes all maintenance notifications on completion of the work.
    - When required, control contractors working within his area of responsibility.

    Independence of operation
    The mechanical supervisor works under the guidance of the Central Services Superintendent, Discipline Engineers and Inspectors.

    Supervision
    The Mechanical Supervisor directly supervises and controls a crew of 10 – 15 craftsmen and service contractors.

    Physical Effort
    The execution of his normal duty requires the area maintenance coordinators to directly oversee craftsmen working in his area. This means he does a lot of climbing on scaffolds, confined space entry into vessels etc. during the normal execution of his duties.

    Work Environment
    The mechanical supervisor spends 80% of his time in the workshop / field and 20% in an office environment.

    Desired Candidate Profile:
    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    - Education: - Degree in Engineering
    - Recognized maintenance craftsmen with at least 10 years experience in a Petrochemical plant.
    - Excellent knowledge of piping fabrication, welding and testing.
    - Working knowledge of rigging and rigging studies.
    - Good working knowledge of SAP, PM Module.
    - 5 years plus supervisory / coordination experience in a petrochemical plant.
