Job Description
Foreign Exchange (FX) within RBS GBM is a largely a technology driven business area. BAU and investment programmes provide the supporting infrastructure that is required to underpin the business growth expectations. Key items within the delivery are:
• High Throughput/Low Latency Trade Capture, Global Position & Risk Management
• Common set of integrated services used by all FX applications/systems
• On Demand Scalable Infrastructure (in line with business growth) - new Global Replicated Data Model/Environment.
• Counterparty and Static data sourced directly from Golden Sources
• Integrated dashboard GUI.
• System delivered globally to London, Greenwich and Asia Pacific
• Technology team spread across multiple geographically regions (inc. London and Gurgaon) The successful candidate will have a clear focus on providing business solutions whether working independently or as part of a team whilst delivering in a high-pressure environment. It is important for the candidate to have enthusiasm, commitment and a positive attitude as well as being a strong team player. It is also essential for the candidate to have good interpersonal skills and the ability to discuss, analyse and accurately document technical issues.
• As directed by Project Manager, contribute to or lead software development lifecycle management, requirements definition/analysis and feasibility analysis
• Provide significant input to technical design of new solutions applying current software design techniques
• Decompose design into development plan tasks and provide accurate estimation of effort
• Own the specific parts of a solution from design and development through to test and implementation
• Mentor and develop the technical skills of other software developers
Responsibilities
Supplementary Experience: (Useful additional skills) Domain knowledge, FX or other cash / flow based product Experience of developing in Heterogonous environments. Subversion. Continuous integration. Experience in server development will be an advantage.
Desired Candidate Profile
Experience: 6+ years working on a large n-tier application with rich business functionality 6+ years of programming experience in C# (MultiThreading, Remoting, WinForms) Minimum Academics: A qualification from an Engineering College, MCA (honours/ 1st class)
Essential Skills: (Must have skills)
A proven track record of design, development and delivery within investment banking.
Ability to lead technical design of a project / large module. Ability to work effectively with cross border development teams.
OO development experience using .NET C# in large scale, high volume, multi-threaded business critical applications.
Good component based design skills using n-tier architectures (scalability, multithreading, caching, business & data layers).
Excellent multithreaded development skills.
Experience in WinForms development.
Solid database skills (Oracle or SQL Server).
Excellent communication skills, Focussed on delivering what needs to be done, Strong personal ownership and ability to set and meet high professional standards, Flexible and responsive work style, Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
