Project Title PERFORMANCE OF STANDARD LEAN BURN ENGINE WITH GASOLINE FUEL
Organization Ballari Institute of Technology & Management.
Description A lean burn spark ignition engine with compression ratio ranging from 8.5 to 12.5[]:1 was developed by converting a Kirloskar TAFI compression ignition four-stroke air cooled engine into a S.I gasoline engine running at a constant speed of 1500pm. The engine was modified to suit the requirements for lean combustion viz. a high energy 12 volts battery ignition system, hemispherical combustion chamber on the top of the piston with swirling grooves and high compression ratio of 12.5:1. And coating the piston top with different materials ceramic coating(aluminium oxide ) and catalytic coating (chromium oxide) and testing the performance.

Simulation were carried out on a steel plate with rigid sphere by varying the mesh density of the plate and sphere in order to find the contact force the material model selected for impacor is MAT_RIGID(MAT_20) and for plate MAT_PICEWISE LINEAR_PLASTICITY(MAT_24)
Topic-2 low velocity impact on graphite/epoxy laminates
Simulations were carried out on graphite/epoxy laminates with the impact of steel sphere in order to study the rebound parameter boundary condition selected is clamped on two opposite face and other two faces are free
Topic-3 low velocity impact on CFRP plates by varying mesh density of plate
Simulations were carried out on a square CFRP plate the impactor selected is again the steel sphere. The meshing of plate done from ONE element to 4x4 mesh size of the plate with the boundary condition selected as simply supported.
Topic-4 The effect of various parameters on CFRP plate
Simulations were carried out by varying different parameters of target plate and projectile sphere and what there effects on contact force the parameters considered here are low mass high velocity, high mass low velocity, simply supported and clamped boundary condition, aluminum and steel material for impactor, by varying the different orientations of plies in plate, and change in thickness of plate ffect of order of layering and air gap during normal impact of projectile for multilayered plates
Topic-5 low velocity impact on composite plate embedded with SMA wires
Simulations were carried out on a composite plate embedded with Shape memory alloy the impactor selected is steel sphere for all simulations the material models selected for composite plate is MAT_COMPOSITE_DAMAGE(MAT_22) and impactor is MAT_PICEWISELINEAR_PLASTICITY(MAT_24) and MAT_SHAPE_MEMORY(MAT_30) for SMA wires Plate is modeled using Belytschko–Tsay shell elements and Projectile is modeled as 3D using constant stress solid element

MAJOR PROJECT : Fabrication of Pneumatic Auto Gear Changer
Duration : 5 months
Description : Pneumatic Auto Gear Changer is an effective gear changer for an automobile and industrial purpose. A rotational output of an internal combustion engine is connected to drive wheels of the automobile and a load device. When a gear shifting up of an automatic transmission is to be effected, the load applied by the load device is increased, or the load is connected to an output rotation shaft of the engine via a selectively connecting device, thereby reducing the rotational speed of the output rotation shaft of the engine to a required level. In this project, the push button is used to activate/deactivate the solenoid valve. The switch is ‘ON’ at the time of gear changing; the solenoid valve is activated, so that the compressed air goes to the pneumatic cylinder. Then the compressed air passes through the tube, and then pushes the pneumatic cylinder. As such, thee gear is changed from one speed to another speed with the help of gearbox arrangement. Advantage of this Pneumatic Auto Gear Changer is human effort is low and performance of gear shifting is effective.
DIPLOMA FINAL YEAR PROJECT : Design and Fabrication of Car by Using the 2 Stroke Engine
Duration : 45 Days
Description : The main criteria of this project using a two-stroke engine and spotting it to a four-wheeler, which features all the aspects of a four-wheeler. At present project work deals with design, fabrication and modification of the vehicle. Many tests have been carried out on this vehicle to check it performance on and off the road at different speeds. It has proved its worthiness under different condition.
