- Different varieties of chillies were collected from LAM farm, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh and screened for their Lipoxygenase activity .under infected and control conditions.
- Among them two varieties, resistant and susceptible to Anthracnose were selected and tested for their LOX activity under infected and control conditions.
- Further the distribution of LOX in different plant parts during development was studied.
- Characterization of LOX isoforms induced in capsicum plants during infection, partial purification and characterization of LOX products formed in response to infection was studied.
- Also the antimicrobial activity of these LOX products was studied against different fungal and bacterial pathogens.
- Antibodies were raised against the purified Lipoxygenase isoforms of chilly seedlings. These antibodies will be used to probe the LOX isoforms induced in infected chilly seedlings.
- Hence LOX can be used as a biochemical marker.
