Demand for PDMS piping design in India [Query]

I am a mechanical engineer working as a checker for past two years in Bahrain for shaw-nass . I am looking at pursuing PDMS from MIT pune could any one guide me as to if this would be help full in getting a job back in India and the future growth in this field .

Welcome to the forum.

First of all I am not sure if PDMS is offered as a course in MIT pune.
I know that they offer piping.
Check out their website to know if they offer PDMS.

Training in PDMS is not offered by many institutions. May be you can search google or even this forum to see if there is any training institution offereing the course in your area.

For a fresher in PDMS (with piping knowledge), as far as I know, the best is to join a company and learn PDMS on the job. Once you are confident enough, then you can move out to other big companies. That might take a minimum of 2 years.

I know that SST takes in freshers for PDMS. May be there are others.

For your question, I can confirm that PDMS piping is a sought after field, and has great potential in India and abroad. I am a PDMS piping design Engineer myself and can vouch for that.

If you are in piping, the next ideal and logical step would be PDMS and might be a trump card for a monetarily successful career abroad.

well MIT does have PDMS course as certifate course for 2months.... and even PGDM in piping design and engineering with PDMS for 6 months.... i was looking at doing one of these....

Well Punkaj I have also joined pDMS in MIT Mumbai location center. Your information is right. If you have earlier good hand on experience in piping then it advisable to do PDMS only. I am laso looking for some help from your side about piping sources for knowledge that is neede for good pipe designer. Can you provide me the matters.

At the moment there seems to be a scarcity of jobs in this field. Most big companies which used to take up big projects and give work to smaller firms are themselves not able to support their staffs. I have worked in piping construction for above 4 yrs. And i wanted to change to piping design. I did my piping design and learnt PDMS and even caesar. I have many friends in this field in Jacobs, Toyo, TEC etc. I have still not been able to land even a contract job after trying for 5 months.

Even experienced professionals are finding it difficult to find jobs in this recession. Indian PDMS designers from Norway Malaysia have been sent back as far as I have seen. Could be the same in other countries as well.

Projects have started arriving and the end of recession in this sector seems to be near. Until recession is over and there is a clear sign of boom time, do not switch jobs or career line. Stay where you are.

I do have 15+ years of experience in oil & gas field abroad. I had completed my PDS course, but i couldn't get a chance to work on it.
I am on exit from Saudi for the past 3 months. In newspapers, most of the companies are asking for PDMS designers.
I am 43 yrs old and I do have experience on structural/piping. Can you feed me with valuable suggestions?
