We carried on chatting and talking on the phone for about nine months before we actually met. When I met her, I found her to be very ordinary looking. However, I had got attached to her so I just could not let go off her. We started going out and we ended up proposing to each other as well. A year down the line, her feelings faded away, I was left with no choice but to move on with life. After a while I realized I was wasting my time chasing a girl who was not sure about her feelings."

Shivani (name changed), an MBA student from Delhi says, "I met the man of my dreams on Orkut through a common friend. We started sending scraps and emails to each other. Then we decided to meet at a restaurant. We both liked each other and have been dating since then. I would never have met him if communities like Orkut would not have made this world such a small place."

A viable option?

One factor that makes online dating a viable option is the vast majority of potential daters and the opportunity to interact with people not just locally but also globally. Posting a profile and a photo is relatively quick and easy. Especially for people who are not comfortable in social situations and fear rejection, online dating seems to be a viable option. It gives the individual to seek a match even if he likes anonymity. Bhushan, a student from Mumbai says, "Internet is the most accessible medium these days and it is a great way to get to know and meet new people. I met a girl from Canada via Yahoo Chat. We became good friends, started sharing emails but gradually lost touch. Internet dating can be a good or bad experience depending on the kind of people you come across."

However, at the same time online dating has its own flaws. It is certainly difficult to determine the reliability of the information an individual may have put up on his profile. Even though it is quick and easy, meeting an online friend in person may not always be a safe option. It is also possible that you may be completely disappointed when you meet your online friend in person. Asif who works for an advertising agency in Delhi says, "I believe people who are shy resort to such measures. It is a virtual world and it gives you the liberty to unleash your pent up shyness". "It can be extremely dangerous. People generally don’t disclose their identities. At times people have sinister motives", he adds.

Despite the flaws, online dating and social networking Web sites like friendfinder.com, date.com, matchmaker.com, match.com, dreammates.com, simplyclicked.com, chemistry.com, fropper.com, orkut.com and tagged.com have been successful to a great extent in attracting singles and helping them find their soul mate.

Hi all,
While I’m going to travel a lot this summer season, I'd really like some opinions about best luggage -it must be durable and what is actually most important for me - light and convenient to carry around. I’m trying to find luggage with good accessories and a wide selection of colours. As far as the price if concerned, I don’t mind spending a whole lot for something that really suits my needs and I’m really content with.

I actually have to state that I really enjoy our current bag but it’s somewhat far too heavy and old-fashioned. It’s an American Tourister. I had it for like twenty years, and I traveled all over the world by using it. Nevertheless it had wheels which made the baggage much heavier. What’s more , the sizing of the whole set was quite big so now I’d prefer something smaller and lighter. Also,
I‘d like trendy - looking luggage with a bit of fashionable design on it but I believe that the quality is the most necessary. Could you recommend some good brands ?
