Mercer’s retirement business provides its clients worldwide with a consistently high level of service through Retirement Service Centres (RSCs). The RSCs manage significant portions of the recurring pension and post retiree medical valuation work, along with data, benefit calculations and government forms for clients.
DESIGNATION : - Senior Actuarial Analyst
WORK TENURE : - January 2010 to till date.
RESPONSIBILITES : -
- Understand the provisions of the pension plan being valued
- Identify the data requirements for a particular valuation given under the plan provisions
- Reconcile this year data with prior year data
- Do the necessary data calculations using the Mercer proprietary system
- Validate the data for accuracy, consistency and reasonableness using the system
- Identify, document and communicate data related issues
- Fix the data issues and prepare valuation-ready data
- Prepare and/or modify system coding for the current valuation
- Carry out valuation of the pension scheme assets and liabilities in the system
- Carry out Gain/Loss analysis
- Carry out the funding and accounting calculations in the system
- Check all the results for accuracy, consistency and reasonableness
- Prepare the statistics that go into the valuation report
- Prepare a draft valuation report and statutory forms/reports to analyze the data at excel level, putting the same in company specific software’s and valuing the benefits
POST RETIREE MEDICAL : - I am also working on PRM plans, which incorporates medical benefits provided to the employee after their retirement. It takes into account the Medical cost, morbidity rates, Subsidy if any provided by government and most importantly if any contribution paid by the employee. Mortality will also come in place for calculating all these benefits and sometimes for the valuation of life coverage.
RESPONSIBILITES : -
- Understand the various coverage (medical, dental etc.) and their eligibilities in retiree medical plan being valued.
- Understanding the role of Subsidy or Contribution while calculating each benefit.
- Understand the liability valuation method and analysis of the liabilities numbers on that basis
- Coding of various liability coverage in Mercer proprietary system
- Coordinated multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Quality Check (QC) of end product before final delivery.
