Pursuant to the advertisement dated 16.09.2017 the Gauhati High Court has been pleased to notify that the Preliminary Examination (OMR based Objective Type Questions with Multiple Choices) for direct recruitment to Grade-III of Assam Judicial Service will be held as per schedule indicated below:

Specific venue of the examination will be indicated in the Admit Cards. Admit Cards may be downloaded from official website of the Gauhati High Court (ghconline.gov.in) w.e.f. 12.12.2017 (3.00 pm onwards). Syllabus of the Preliminary Examination has already been provided in the advertisement dated 16.09.2017.

A provisional list of candidates with assigned Roll Numbers and a reject list have been published along with this notification.

Grievances, if any, in respect of the inclusion/non-inclusion of names of candidates in the published lists are to be brought to the notice of the undersigned by e-mail at ghc.rcell2013[AT]gmail.com on or before 27-11-2017 (till 5.00 pm).

Candidates of the provisional list have been allowed to appear in the Preliminary Examination subject to condition that their candidatures are still under scrutiny. The Gauhati High Court reserves the right to reject the candidature of any candidate on detection of any ineligibility condition at any stage.

The candidates will have to appear in a Preliminary Examination (Screening test) of objective questions of 100 marks (2 hour duration), which will cover English, General Knowledge, Aptitude, , Constitution of India, Code of Civil Procedure, Transfer of Property Act Indian Contract Act Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, Indian Evidence Act and Law of Torts.

From the rank wise list of marks of the Preliminary Examination, 10 (ten) candidates will be called against 1 vacancy (1:10) for the Final Written Examination. However, the High Court reserves the right to fix cut off mark in the Preliminary Examination and call only those candidates to appear in the Final Written Examination who obtain the cut off mark as may be fixed by the High Court.

The Candidates shall have to appear in a final written examination consisting of the following papers;
Paper: English 100 marks
a) Essay Writing
b) Précis Writing
c) Grammar etc.
Paper- II: General Knowledge (100 marks)
a) Objective Type
b) Aptitude Test
Paper. III: Law Paper - I (100 marks)
a) Constitution of India
b) Code of Civil Procedure
c) Transfer of Property Act
d) Indian Contract Act
Paper- IV: Law Paper-II (100 marks)
a) Indian Penal Code
b) Code of Criminal Procedure
c) Indian Evidence Act
d) Law of Torts

Note: The candidates are expected to refer to the relevant decisions of the Apex Court and the High Court while writing answers in Paper III and IV.
