Job Description
To provide architectural design and drafting services for SUPERVALU affiliated retailers and independent clients.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Designer/Drafter I
First level position to the Architecture DSG (design/drafting) job family.
Create, plan, develop and execute architectural documents for each assigned project, and provide necessary support to meet client and department objectives, and tailor the design to the function it must perform.
Lead the development and preparation of construction documents (drawings and specifications) that will achieve the total architectural design as directed by the client and the Project Architect, and defined in the approved architectural services proposal, including: code compliance, project background floor plan, architectural floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, exterior elevations, wall sections, plan details and section details.
Research, apply, detail and specify new or unfamiliar materials and building systems to meet project and clients needs, with guidance from the Project Architect.
Participate in annual research and development projects to advance the department’s best practices and knowledge base.
Accurately report work effort on each project on time sheets.
Complete projects within scheduled time, work effort budget and agreed upon scope of work.
Keep informed and up-to-date with current trends in design, construction and new products and materials in the architectural design and construction field.
Maintain good communications with Offshore Production Coordinator.
Work with staff and management of other DSG departments other SUPERVALU corporate departments Retail clients; Corporate retail banner, as required for the project.
Other department related responsibilities as determined by the Manager, Architecture or Program
Supervisors, in order to meet changing client and department needs.

Designer/Drafter
Responsible for the design of over 20 projects annually – Quantity TBD
Accountable for the performance objectives of the project and must coordinate the services to meet each 2 project budget and scheduling goals.

Desired Candidate Profile
Experience:
Two-year Technical School certificate strongly preferred. Other acceptable field related qualifications may be considered.
Three years of related experience in the field of architecture is required; supermarket design experience is preferred.

Skills Required:
Familiarity with specifications is preferred.
Ability to create and interpret plans and specifications and knowledge of building code requirements, good working knowledge of construction methods, construction administration procedures, and engineering methods and procedures (civil, structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical).
Work with minimum direction on several projects concurrently
Computer skills are required in areas of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and in the use of a PC, including Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong analytical skills and ability to recommend solutions based on solid understanding of business competitive landscape and market trends.
Strong written and verbal communications skills are essential
Possesses strong organizational skills and the ability to motivate and work with others to achieve desired results.

Physical Environment
Some travel may be required
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
Some field verification and scope of work review is performed in active retail supermarkets, vacated buildings and active construction job sites.
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, computer mice, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
