Scientist-C Recruitment :
Candidates who possess qualifications mentioned below may attend the WALK-IN-INTERVIEW/WRITTEN TEST for one post of SCIENTIST-C (NON-MEDICAL) (UNRESERVED) on 06.09.2017 at 10.00 a.m at Vector Control Research Centre, Medical Complex, Indira Nagar, Puducherry-605 006 with all the original certificates, including Community Certificate to work under the project entitled “Adaptation, validation and application of LYMFASIM model to predict the risk of resurgence following stopping MDA based on transmission assessment survey” with assistance/collaboration from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USA.
The appointment to the project post will be purely on temporary basis and the appointment will be initially for a period of six months and likely to be extended subject to performance and availability of funds.
Essential qualification :
First class Master’s degree in Statistics/ Biostatistics from a recognized university with four years R&D/teaching experience in the above subjects after 1st Class Master’s Degree.
OR
Second Class Master’s degree + PhD degree in Statistics/ Biostatistics from a recognized university with four years R&D/teaching experience in the above subjects after Master’s degree + Ph.D.
Nature of duties :
Designing and development of computer based simulation model for vector-borne diseases; compilation, collation and analysis of published data from different parts of the country for model quantification and validation using statistical software such as R, SPSS and STATA.
Age : Not exceeding 40 years on the date of Walk-in-Interview/Written Test.
Consolidated salary : Rs.51,000/- + HRA Rs.4440/- per month
OTHER INFORMATION:
1. Qualification and experience should be from an organization of repute.
2. Mere fulfilling the essential qualification does not guarantee for the selection.
3. Person already in regular time scale service under any Government Department/Organizations are not eligible to apply.
4. Candidates who wish to appear for the Walk-in-/Interview/Written Test can download the application format given in the Centre’s Web Site (vcrc.res.in).
Duly filled in application along with the self attested copies of certificates in proof of Date of birth, Educational Qualification (Certificate/ Statement of marks), Experience as mentioned under essential qualification and Community certificate (SC/ST/ OBC) must be enclosed with the application and submitted at the time of Walk-in-Interview/Written- Test.
5. No travelling allowance will be paid to the candidate for appearing the Walk-in-/Interview/Written Test.
6. The selected candidates will have no claim for regular appointments in any ICMR Institutes/Centres for continuation of his/her services in any other project.
7. Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidate or bringing political or other outside influence with regard to selection shall be a disqualification and such candidates will not be entertained.
8. The decision of the Director, VCRC, Puducherry is final in this regard.
INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING WRITTEN TEST :
1. He/She will be allotted with a Registration Number and this must be written by him/her on the space provided in the Question & Answer Booklet.
2. The Written Test is of 120 minutes duration with a total number of 100 multiple choice objective type Questions with one mark for each question and a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer. The medium of the Test will be in English.
3. Syllabus:
Statistics/Biostatistics: Sample survey methodology; statistical inference; probability theory and distributions; Generalized linear modeling; survival analysis; clinical trials; probit regression analysis.
Statistical software: SPSS, STATA, R
Programming: JAVA, C, C++, Visual Basic including Object Oriented Programming.
4. Question & Answer Booklet will be provided in the examination Hall. Answers should be marked carefully as per instructions given in the booklet. Candidates are instructed to use only Ball Pen (Blue) for marking the Answers.
5. Question & Answer Booklet should be handed over to the Hall Supervisor at the end of the test.
