The State Board of Technical Education and Training, Telangana, Hyderabad will conduct “Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (POLYCET)” for the candidates seeking admission in to all Diploma Courses in Engineering /Non Engineering/ Technology offered at Polytechnics /Institutions (including Aided and Unaided Private Polytechnics /Institutions running as 2nd shift in Private Engineering Colleges) in Telangana State for the academic year 2017 - 18.

1. What is POLYCET-2017?
Ans: POLYCET is the Polytechnic Common Entrance Test for admission into various Polytechnics in Government/Aided/Private/2nd Shift Engineering Colleges across the state of Telangana for the academic year 2017-18.
2. What is the Eligibility to appear for POLYCET -2017 examination?
Ans: A pass in the SSC or its equivalent examination recognized by any state/ central Board. A candidate who is appearing for SSC-2017 exam is also eligible to apply.
3. What is the medium of teaching/ instruction in Polytechnics?
Ans: English medium.
4. How many Polytechnics are there?
Ans: 58 Government and 149 Pvt. Polytechnics (Aided/Private/ 2nd shift).
5. How many seats are available?
Ans: 53,470

7. Is there any age limit to appear for POLYCET-2017?
Ans: No age limit. (NOTE: The rule provision to sanction scholarship shall be applicable in respect of age of candidate studying)
8. How many marks are there in POLYCET-2017?
Ans: 120 marks, 120 questions and each question carriers 1 mark. There is no negative marking.
9. What is the pattern of question paper to be followed in POLYCET-2017?
Ans: Question paper contains 3 subjects. Mathematics-60, Physics-30, Chemistry-30 questions each.
10. Whether model paper available?
Ans: Yes, in the instruction Booklet which is available through online. Further a candidate can approach nearest polytechnic to get old question papers.
11. What is the duration of exam and Date of conduct of exam?
Ans: 02 Hours, 22-04-2017, 11.00 AM to 1.00PM.
12. What is the fee structure to apply for the POLYCET-2017?
Ans: Rs.200/- for SC/ST and Rs.350/- for other candidates.
13. What are the Qualifying marks to pass the POLYCET-2017?
Ans: 36 marks out of 120. However, there is no minimum marks to qualify for SC/ST candidates.
14. Is there any polytechnics exclusive for some community/Religion etc?
Ans: Yes, 02 for SCs, 01 for ST and 01 for Minority.
15. Whether Hostel facilities is available in Polytechnics?
Ans: Yes, in many Polytechnics.
