Meat Speciation by Polymerase Chain Reaction and Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism.
(PCR-RFLP)

Summary : As the name suggest this project is based on identification of meat species and detection of different adulterated meats. In this project, I isolated DNA from four different animal species including Beef, Buffalo, Chevon, and Mutton, then amplified mitochondrial 12S RNA gene using PCR. Amplified PCR products were treated with AluI, HhaI, ApoI and BspTI Restriction Enzymes resulting in a species specific pattern on agarose gel that were visualized by using electrophoresis and UV transilluminator. Each animal species has specific restriction pattern. So we can identify meat species.
