Child Development Project Officer and Supdt Syllabus :
Unit I : Concepts of Social Work, Social Work, Social Service, Social policy , social development, professional and voluntary social work, social concept and philosophy, Ethical responsibility in social work and sociology. Functions of Social change and Social Process and Meaning.

Unit II :
i. Type of community, rural, urban and tribal, social and contextual understanding of practice. Skills in community organisation and practice, utilisation of resources within and outside the community, marginalized sections in urban, rural and tribal community and society.

ii. Important social problems — Unemployment among st women, illiteracy, poverty, children in conflict with law, crime amongst women and children, trafficking and corruption, Socio-economic empowerment of women, Women Studies, cybercrime, devadasi system, prevention of alcoholism and substance drug abuse.

Unit III :
i. Casework method: as a social work practice and overall purpose and objectives of working with individuals, groups. Remedial, preventive, pro-motive, developmental and ingenious case work practice, Cultural and sensitivity in practice, specific techniques in social work practice. Concepts of convergence, community development approach.

ii. Group Work process, group formation, formulation of objectives and programme planning in implementation — group process communication in group work and measures of group effectiveness, rules of group working , personality development — stages of group development and community development approach.

Unit IV :
i Special categories of children — Deprived and children in conflict with law, destitute children, differently abled children, specially exploited and oppressed children, street children, child labour, child in prostitution, child bondage, child beggars, school drop-outs, children in broken homes, child victims of abuse, behavioral problems in children according to Juvenile justice act.

ii. Family life education concept, need, principles, techniques, value education programmes, inter-disciplinary approach in family life education, social work intervention in families principles, approach, techniques, pre -marital counseling and family therapy.

iii. National Health policies, Mental Health Act — 1987, Equal opportunities for differently abled persons Act — 1995, PNDT Act — 1998, National and international organisations for working for women and children, crime against Women, Criminology and correctional administration and rehabilitation and
after care servies.
iv. Children aAll Acts and Rules related to women and Children.

Unit V NUTRITION : Classification functions and sources of energy, carbohydrates, fats, proteins, fat and water soluble vitamins, minerals, titter and balanced diet.
Unit VI : Malnutrition: Malnutrition in women and children, Eriology and strategies for precention and correction, Identification of High risk patients, prophylactic measures for Vitamin A, B, C, D, E, M, Iron, Calcium and Iodine.
Unit VII : Maternal and child malnutrition, impact on growth, pregnancy outcome, reproductive health, Infant mortality rate, Maternal Mortality rate.

Unit VIII :
A. Nutrition Life cycle, Stages, Womb to Tomb, developmental milestones and norms.
B. Infancy — Growth and development, breast feeding, weaning food, complementary food, portable water, immunization.
C. Preschool years — Growth and development, cause of malnutrition at preschool ages, common childhood illness measures to overcome environment issues.

D. School years — Mid-day meals, cyclic menu.
E. Adolescence — Growth and development, physical, physiological and social changes, menstrual cycle —care and hygiene, chronic energy, deficiency among adolescent girls, counseling, skill development.

F. Adult — Weight management, over and under nutrition, dietary factors in prevention of chronic degenerative deceases.
G. Geriatric Healthcare- Physiological, psychological and social changes, impact on quality life, institutional care. Life skills, development and management at various stages.
