SIIP Fellowship 2014 :
The goal of the Fellowship is to foster a pool of social innovators in the MCH arena and to train them to become successful innovators. The Fellowship will run for duration of eighteen (18) months. During this time, the team of fellows will be taken through a spectrum of home-based, community, primary, secondary and tertiary health setups in the National Capital Region (NCR). Fellows will be trained in the Biodesign process of innovation to examine unmet clinical and social needs in the area of Maternal and Child Health. For the purpose of immersion and mentoring, the program will provide access to ASHA workers through the NRHM, and to faculty collaborators from Gurgaon General Hospital, Maulana Azad Medical College, AIIMS, Safdarjang and Kalavati Saran Children Hospital. Based on the top unmet social and clinical needs identified, the programs will encourage product or service innovations in MCH to serve patients at the neglected tail of healthcare.

The Fellowship will offer a consolidated package of INR 45,000/month for the duration of the program. Additionally, the program will cover medical insurance and all Fellowship-related travel for the team. At the end of the immersion phase and on successful submission of a proposal, the social innovators will be eligible for a “kick-start” grant of INR five (5) Lakhs/ Fellow to demonstrate proof-of-concept of their solutions. THSTI, with its partners, will provide dedicated mentoring time with clinical and Biodesign faculty, structured training in innovation management, social enterprise entrepreneurship and networking opportunities with clinicians and translational experts to the BIRAC-THSTI Social Innovators.
