Application by Girl Students (Class XI/XII) under Udaan to Compete for Admission at Premier Engineering Colleges

About UDAAN :
To address the teaching gap between school education and engineering entrance as also to enrich the teaching and learning of Science and Mathematics at School level, the CBSE is launching, a project to provide free online resources to girl students of Class XI and Class XII for preparation of admission test for the premier engineering colleges in the country.

The special focus of project Udaan is to address the low enrolment ratio of girl students in these prestigious institutions and to enable girl students to receive special incentives and support so that they can join these institutions and go on to take leadership roles in the future.

The objective of this project is to enable girl students to soar to higher education from schools, and to eventually take various leadership roles in future.

The project aims at addressing the lower enrolment ratio of girl students in engineering colleges. The aim is also to enrich and enhance teaching and learning of Science and Mathematics at Senior Secondary level by providing free and online resources to everyone, with a focus on special incentives and support to 1000 selected disadvantaged girls per year.

** Program of mentoring for selected 1000 girl students to compete for admission at Premier Engineering Colleges
** 50% seats earmarked for students from SC/ST/ Backward Classes
** Selection of students on merit cum means basis
** Free of cost comprehensive course in an online and offline format
** Tutorials, lectures and study material for preparation for IIT JEE will be provided online and on tablets given to the students
** Comprehensive assessment system to result in accumulation of reward points
** Financial assistance by means of reward points redeemed towards fees in IITs and NITs
** Student helpline to enhance learning
** Periodic counselling to motivate students and parents

Who Can Join :
The program is open to Indian citizens only. All girl students studying in classes XI and XII in any Board in India can apply based on following eligibility criteria. The selection of students will be based on merit.

** Girl students currently enrolled in Class XI and XII in PCM stream
** Minimum 70% marks in Class X overall and 80% marks in Science and Mathematics; for Boards which follow CGPA, a minimum CGPA of 8 and a GPA of 9 in Science and Mathematics
** For Class XII students, a minimum of 75% marks in PCM in Class XI in addition to the Class X requirements
** Selection will be based on merit cum means
** Preference will be given to girl students from economically disadvantaged background

Selection Criteria :
1. The program is open for citizens of India residing in India only.
2. The program is open for girl students studying in any recognized Board in India.
3. 1000 girl students enrolled in Class XI and XII in the current session will be selected. 500 girl students selected will be from Open category and 500 will belong to SC/ST/Backward Class.
4. Preference will be given to girl students from financially weaker section where the combined family income should be less than INR 600000 per annum for General and Backward Class candidates.
5. The students will be selected based on merit where Class XI students should have secured a minimum of 70% marks overall and 80% marks in Science and Maths in the Class Xth examination. Where CGPA is used, the student should have secured a CGPA of 8 and a GPA of 9 in Science and Mathematics each. For Class XII students, in addition to the Class X criteria, they should have secured a minimum of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class XI.

Course of Study :
6. Tablets given to the student will be at the responsibility of the parents. An undertaking from the parents/ guardian will be required prior to the release of the tablet and periodic compliance report will be needed from the School principal.
7. Students will be required to maintain a 80% attendance at the contact classes. Students who drop below 80% attendance will lose 50% of all points accrued. Additionally if the attendance drops below 70% at any time, the student will be dropped from the program.
8. Students who drop out for any reason will have to submit the study material and the tablet to the city coordinator.
9. Students will be required to be present for 80% of the compulsory assessments conducted. Students who do not take the compulsory assessments will not be eligible to accrue points.
