Regional Mathematical Olympiad 2014 (Telangana) :
International Mathematical Olympiad Official LogoIn this site, you will find all the required information related to the Regional Mathematical Olympiad which is going to be conducted in the State Telangana on 7th of December 2014 across several centres in the region. You will also find some information related to the International Mathematical Olympiad as well as some sample question papers which were used in the previous years. Eligibility :
The RMO is meant primarily for students of Class IX--XI. Note that, from this year onwards XII (12)th std students CANNOT appear for the RMO. As special cases, exceptionally talented students from Class VIII may be allowed to appear at the discretion of the Regional Coordinator.

Apply Now :
As you have already seen, the first step towards participating in the International Mathematical Olympiad is to clear the regional olympiad (in short, RMO). If you are from the Telangana region, and wants to appear in the RMO, well, you are reading the correct page now!

Important:
I) Any number of students may apply from a school.

II) The examination fee for one applicant is Rs. 150/-. It will be non refundable, even if the applicant decides later not to participate in RMO.

III) Examination fee should be paid as Demand Draft (DD, in short) drawn on any nationalized bank in favour of the Regional Mathematical Olympiad (payable at Hyderabad.). It should be sent to the Regional Co-ordinator along with application(s). Applications without DD or DD with insufficient amount will be summarily rejected without any further intimation. The DD should be drawn only after the date 11th of August 2014.

IV) Please go through the below steps for making a successfull application:

You need to fill up an online application form available at this link. But before that, please keep on reading!

Part - I - Instructions using single DD for single applicant
1. Before filling up the form, please be ready with the DD.

2. Please mention the following at the back of the DD: (1) Your name -- first name, middle name (if any), last name [in this order], (2) your date of birth and (3) your contact (tel.) number(s). These are the first four entries of the application form.

3. The person whose contact telephone numbers are given in the application form as well as behind the DD MUST know what RMO is, and that the student is applying for RMO. He/she preferably (not compulsory, but it will make our life easier!) should be fluent in one of English/Hindi also in addition to Telugu.

4. Start filling the online application form now.

5. After filling and submitting the online form, you will be able to download a single page PDF file from the link "Download final form/hall ticket" in which all your data will be present, including the DD no, and your the temporary registration number. Please take two print outs of this form. You should keep one with you for future reference.

6. Get recommendation from your school on this form. The recommendation should be signed either by the Head of the Institution (Principal/Head Master) or by one of the Mathematics Teachers of your institution. It should also bear the school seal.

7. The recommendation from the school authorities (Head of institution/Mathematics teacher) should state the following:

(1) For students of Class VIII: "In terms of mathematical abilities, the candidate is one of the best this school has seen in last five years".

At most one Class VIII student will be allowed to apply from a school.

(2) For students of higher classes: “In terms of mathematical abilities, the candidate is among the top 10 of his/her class”.

8. Only RMO awardees of any earlier year do not need such recommendation required above.

9. Post post the DD and the application form in an envelope to the regional co-ordinator whose address can be found at this page.
OR
leave the envelope containing the DD and the application form in a drop-box at the School of Mathematics, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad.

You will have to keep photo copy of the DD with you for future reference and send the original with your application.

Please write Application for Regional Mathematical Olympiad 2014 on the envelope and address it to the regional co-ordinator, RMO. Once we receive both the online application, and the envelope containing the DD and the application form, the admit card will be e-mailed to you as a PDF file. Please note in this context that the admit card will be sent ONLY by email.

After sending the post containing DD as well as forms, you are requested to check the online website after 15th November 2014 using the same username to see whether hall ticket has been generated for you. Please remember that postal delays may affect the reaching of your post to the co-ordinator, and be patient. Inquire about non-generation of halltickets only after 7-10 days after you send the post, and only after 25th of November 2014.

Part - II - Instructions using single DD for single applicant
10. Before filling up the form, please be ready with a Demand Draft for sufficient amount. For example, if you want submit applications for 6 students using a single DD, you may take a single DD for 6 X 150 = Rs. 900. In the application form for all the five students, you should enter the DD amount as 900 (not 150), and same DD number, same DD date, and samd DD drawn bank. You SHOULD NOT enter 150 as the DD amount in this case.

11. Please write clearly the details of contact person with contact telephone numbers on the backside of the DD. The person whose contact telephone numbers are given MUST know what RMO is, and that the student is applying for RMO. He/she preferably (not compulsory, but it will make our life easier!) should be fluent in one of English/Hindi also in addition to Telugu.

Important Dates :
Following are the important dates related to the conduct of the Regional Mathematical Olympiad 2014 in the region Telangana.
1. Online submission of applications starts on: 18th August 2014.
2. Online submission closes on: 18th October 2014.
3. Last date by which the signed application form and DD should reach the RMO regional co-ordinator: 24th October 2014.
4. Hall tickets would be generated and emailed from: 21st November 2014.
5. Date of test: 7th December 2014
