Admission to the PhD program at the Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST) in January, 2015

INST invites applications from prospective candidates for admission in to its PhD Program in several areas of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology for the session beginning in January, 2015. The profile of the Faculty members at INST is accessible at inst.ac.in/scientists.html. Ph.D. students will be provided fellowship as per INST norms.

Eligibility Criteria: Interested candidates with a good academic track record and a strong intent to pursue a Ph.D. in Nanoscience/Nanotechnology should hold a Masters Degree in Science/B.Tech./MBBS/M.Tech and have qualified GATE/CSIR or UGC-NET/JEST/JGEEBILS(TIFR/NCBS)/ICMR-JRF/DBT-JRF/DST-INSPIRE.

Award of the Degree: Ph.D. students at INST will register at IISER, Mohali for their Ph.D. degree

Application Fees: The aforesaid application documents should be accompanied by a demand draft (DD) of Rs. 450/- for General/OBC or Rs. 150/- for SC/ST/PH drawn in favor of Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali (payable either at Mohali or at Chandigarh). Please mention your name on the reverse of the DD.

How to Apply :
i) Prospective candidates should directly send their completed and signed application form by e-mail to apply@inst.ac.in This will be treated as an advanced copy of the application. However, the hard copy of the application and a demand draft (see below) will have to be sent to INST.

ii) The envelope containing the application documents should be superscribed as “An application for the Ph.D. Program” and sent to

Deadline: Applications from interested students should reach INST through Registered/Speed Post by 7th October, 2014. Applications received after this date shall not be entertained in any case

Interview dates: Short-listed candidates will be called for an interview at INST on 10th and 11th November, 2014.
Candidates called for interview will be paid II class railway (non AC)/bus fare by the shortest route from their home town
