The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), Chennai is a National Institute of higher learning which fosters high quality fundamental research in frontier disciplines of Mathematical Sciences. IMSc is home to a growing community with scientists working on Complex Systems, Computer Modelling and Analysis of Economic / Financial Data & Networks, particle physics and other interdisciplinary fields besides a wonderful Library with a collection of over 67,000 cataloged volumes [books and back volumes], more than 3500+ online journals, and a host of electronic resources accessible.

Applications are invited for filling up of the following Project positions from the eligible candidates who fulfill requisite qualifications/ specifications mentioned therein. The positions indicated under projects are proposed to be filled purely on contract basis on consolidated salary under ongoing plan projects of the Institute / externally funded Project initially for a period of one year and may be continued further only for a limited period till validity period of the project concerned and there is no scope of continuation / regularization / absorption under any circumstances.

1 Name of the Project : IMSc Complex Systems [XII Plan Project of IMSc]

Minimum Qualifications :Ph.D. In Mathematics / Physics / Biology / Computer Science / Engineering with minimum 3 years postdoctoral research experience at a reputed Scientific / Academic Institute.
Consolidated Salary : Rs. 27,000/- p.m. + HRA @ 30% on Consolidated Salary.

2 Name of the Project : ITRA Project “ De-congesting India'stransportation networks using mobile devices” [External Project of Media Lab- Asia]

Minimum Qualifications :B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc from a reputed institution with a good background either in physical / mathematical sciences or engineering, have some experience in using analytical & computational techniques. Knowledge of MATLAB or equivalent scientific software is desirable.
Consolidated Salary : Rs. 16,000/- p.m. + HRA @ 30% on Consolidated Salary for freshers (or) Rs. 18,000/- p.m. + HRA @ 30% on consolidated salary for candidates with one or more years of experience.

3 Name of the Project : Infrastructure Development Project [XII Plan project of IMSc]

Minimum Qualifications :Diploma / Licentiate in Electrical Engineering with minimum of 55% marks from a reputed college / institution (3 years after SSC) approved by AICTE, New Delhi. Atleast 5 years experience with Electrical Supervisor Competency Certificate (`C' Licence Holder) involved with following electrical field of 11 KV / 433V Electrical sub-station, 250 KVA and 62.5 KVA DG Sets and its automation, 680 Kg capacity electrical lifts, operation and maintenance of various ductable A/c Systems, Cooling Towers, networking, UPS and telecommunication system etc. He/she needs to assist the Electrical Engineer in his/her day to day works.
Consolidated Salary : Rs. 15,000/- p.m. + HRA @ 30% on Consolidated Salary[may be enhanced after 1 year subject to terms and conditions]

4 Name of the Project : Advanced Computing and Information processing facility [XII Plan project of IMSc]

Minimum Qualifications :Any Bachelor Degree / Diploma with Film and Video Production and Post-Production techniques and must be proficient in experience with filming and editing video content [Online / Recorded], must have proficient editing skills in online and off-line productions, must have non-linear hand-on editing experience using various video editing software Final Cut Pro, avid and Highly organised, excellent data management and entry skills. He/She needs atleast one year digital experience.

5 Name of the Project : DAE-SRC Outstanding Research Investigator Award for the research project titled “The mechanics of mitotic cell division”

Minimum Qualifications :BE / B.Tech / M.Sc. / M.Tech. in Bio-informatics / Computational Biology/Systems Biology/Biotechnology with specific expertise in Linux, scripting (preferably python), databases (eg mysql), web servers (eg apache), and biological file formats (gff, bed, fasta, genbank, etc) and tools to manipulate them. "Candidates without a bio-informatics / biotechnology / biology background who have exceptional skills in the other requirements will also be considered".
