What is MTSE?
Maths Talent Search Examination (MTSE) is a competitive examination conducted at various levels by the Indian Institute for Studies in Mathematics (IISMA). The focus of this exam is on mathematical reasoning, mental ability, novel approach, concepts, accuracy and speed.

Eligibility :
MTSE is an open exam. Any student studying in Class III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX under any educational board is eligible to appear for MTSE. A student can appear only for the class in which he/she is studying during the academic year.

Nature of Exam :
The paper consists of 50 objective questions i.e. each question has 4 alternatives. These questions are to be answered in 90 minutes, on an OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) answer sheet. The correct answer is awarded with 2 marks, whereas the wrong one carries a penalty of 0.5 marks, except for Class III and IV.

Hall Ticket, Seat Number and Centre for Examination :
The Hall Ticket, bearing the student’s Seat Number and Centre for the Examination is sent to the school 10 days prior to the date of the examination. You can also download your Hall Ticket by visiting the Downloads section of this website.

Results :
The results of the examination are declared on this website by the 30th of April and can be checked by visiting the Results section. The marksheet and certificates are sent to the schools by the 30th of June. Students are requested to keep checking this site periodically.

Verification of Marks :
If a student desires to get his/her marks reassessed, an application in this regard, along with a self addressed stamped envelope (9" x 4.5") should be submitted to the office of the IISMA. The Application Form can be downloaded from the Downloads section. Along with application, please attach Demand Draft / Pay Order of Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred Only) drawn in favour of 'Indian Institute for Studies in Mathematics' payable at 'Mumbai'.

Photocopy of the answer sheet and model answer key will be made available after verification. Applications received after the specified date will not be entertained. The decision of IISMA in this matter shall be final and binding.

Registration for MTSE 2015 :
Date of Examination : 8th February, 2015. Please note that this date is TENTATIVE.
You can register for MTSE 2015 by filling up the online form and sending us the necessary fees.
Registration Fees: Rs. 250 only

Last date for Registration: 31th October, 2014
Late Registration Fees: Add Rs. 50 upto 15th November, 2014
Add Rs. 100 thereafter upto 30th November, 2014

Mode of Payment :
The fee can be paid either by -
(i) Pay order / demand draft drawn in favour of "Indian Institute for Studies in Mathematics", payable at Mumbai to be sent to our office.

(ii) Depositing cheque in any computerised branch of
Punjab National Bank in Account No. 3736002101016736; or
HDFC Bank in Account No. 05012020000872
in the name of "Indian Institute for Studies in Mathematics" and sending original counterfoil of pay-in-slip to our office.

(iii) Transferring the amount online in our above mentioned bank accounts.The details for online transfer are as under :
(a) HDFC Bank, Mistry Bhavan, Churchgate Branch. IFSC : HDFC0000501.
(b) Punjab National Bank, Vile Parle (E) Branch. IFSC : PUNB0373600.

We request you to avoid depositing cash in our above mentioned bank accounts. In case of cash deposit, please add Rs. 25.00 for Punjab National Bank / Rs. 62.00 for HDFC Bank.

Outstation payments (outside of Mumbai) are to be made by Demand Draft or Deposit of cheque only in Punjab National Bank or HDFC bank.

No payments by cheque sent to our office will be accepted.

The Registration fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Awards :
Students scoring above 30 or the Benchmark score, whichever is higher, are declared as successful. (The Benchmark score is the average score of all the students for that class.)

The top 5 rank holders of each class are awarded mementoes.

The top 200 successful students from each class are awarded a Certificate of Merit and Cash prizes worth more than Rs. 3.5 lacs as under.

A Certificate of Participation is awarded to all other students writing the examination.
