PROMOTION OF SCIENCE EDUCATION (POSE) SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR STUDENTS OF UG AND PG SCIENCE COURSES FOR THE YEAR 2014-15

In order to attract meritorious students in science stream, the Deptt. of Science & Technology, Govt. of Haryana had introduced the POSE scholarship scheme. Presently the applications are invited from the students who have enrolled themselves in the Universities / Colleges of Haryana for the academic session 2014-15 for the following courses:-

i. M.Sc. (Previous) in any one of the basic science subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology and Geology.
ii. B.Sc. General (Medical / Non-Medical) - 1st year
a) Students taking B.Sc. (Non-Medical) course must have chosen any two basic science subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Geology.
b) Students taking B.Sc. (Medical) course must have chosen any two subjects out of Botany, Zoology, Chemistry / Geology.

The applications should be sent in the prescribed application format, which can be downloaded from the web-site of the Deptt. and must be submitted to their head of institution / department. Thereafter, the concerned institution / department will forward all the applications to this office under intimation to Registrar Office of the university concerned. No direct applications will be entertained. The closing date for submission of application is 15.10.2014. Applications received after the closing date will not be entertained. The number of scholarships and their subject wise / group wise (Medical / Non-Medical) distribution will be finalized after the receipt of the applications.

The amount of scholarship and the eligibility criteria are as under :-

For M.Sc. Students - Rs. 6000/- per month plus contingency stipend of Rs. 5000/- once in a year.
For B.Sc. Students - Rs. 4000/- per month plus contingency stipend of Rs. 4000/- once in a year.

Eligibility: The students who have obtained minimum 75% marks in the previous class i.e. B.Sc./ B.A. (Three years course) for M.Sc. students and 85% marks in 10+2 for B.Sc. (General) students are eligible to apply. Further, the subject wise /group wise (Medical / Non-Medical) merit list of the candidates for award of scholarship will be prepared as per the criterion laid down in this regard.

A) For Under Graduate / B.Sc. (General) students:
** Students taking admission in B.Sc. General (Medical or Non-Medical) -1st year in the colleges / universities located within Haryana.
** Students taking B.Sc. (Non-Medical) course must have chosen any two subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Geology.
** Students taking B.Sc. (Medical) course must have chosen any two subjects out of Botany, Zoology, Chemistry / Geology.
** Only those students would be eligible who have obtained minimum 85% marks or equivalent grade in 10+2 class.
** The institution/school from where the 10+2 examination has been passed should be situated in Haryana/Chandigarh. The students passing their 10+2 from outside Haryana should have to produce the Domicile / Resident certificate along with the application.

B) For Post Graduate / M.Sc. students:
** Students taking admission in M.Sc. (Previous) in any one of the basic science subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology and Geology in the colleges / universities located within Haryana.
** Only those students would be eligible who have obtained minimum 75% marks or equivalent grade in B.Sc. (or BA in case of M.Sc. Mathematics).
** The institution/college from where the B.Sc. / B.A. examination has been passed should be situated in Haryana/Chandigarh. The students passing their B.Sc. / B.A. from outside Haryana should have to produce the Domicile / Resident certificate along with the application.
