Pensioners Given Extension Of Date For Interviews :
Pensioners have been given an extension of date for interviews for inclusion under the new scheme up to August 20,

Pensioners drawing pension through treasury and sub-treasury were earlier given time from April 2014 to July 2014 for inclusion under the new medical insurance scheme for pensioners. According to an administration release, pensioners, who had missed the deadline are advised to contact the treasury concerned and make the requisite application. Those unable to attend the interview may provide a required attested certificates and proof of residence.

New Health Insurance Scheme For Pensioners 2014 :
The Department of Treasuries has announced that the new health insurance scheme will come into effect from July 1.

A statement said the Government has ordered implementation of the New Health Insurance Scheme, 2014 for pensioners (including spouse) / family pensioners, to provide healthcare assistance on a cashless basis with a provision to avail assistance from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2018.

The new scheme will be implemented in lieu of Tamil Nadu Government Pensioners Health Fund Scheme, 1995 through Director of Treasuries and Accounts by the United India Insurance Company, which has been selected through tender process.

The scheme will cover more medical treatments and surgical procedures than those listed earlier under the Tamil Nadu Government Pensioners Health Fund Scheme, 1995.

Beneficiaries can avail assistance up to Rs. 2 lakh as against Rs. 1 lakh.

There will be no hike in subscription. The Government will pay the annual premium to the insurance company for each of the beneficiaries.

Application Procedure :
Applicant can submit the necessary filled-in application form by pensioners / family pensioners under the ‘Pilot Pension Scheme’ to the Pension Pay Officer / Treasury Officers / Sub - Treasury Officers concerned .Beneficiaries can avail assistance by submitting a copy of the application form until the identity cards are issued by the insurance company.

Those who have not submitted their filled-in applications for the scheme to the respective banks/treasury are asked to submit them on or before July 31 for availing the facility, a release by District Collector K. Vivekanandan said.
