Soil Health Card :
Soil health plays a vital role to ensure Agricultural production in a sustainable manner. In Andhra Pradesh, soil sampling and soil programme organized in a systematic manner to evaluate the fertility status and to identify the soil problems (salinity/sodicity) if any to improve fertility and to reclaim the problematic soils.
The result of the soil analysis will be communicated to the respective farmers in the shape of soil Health card.
The soil test results will be computerized by taking the soil test data online.So that the farmers can down load the soil analysis report from anywhere.
Objective :
The objective of soil testing is to access the fertility status of the soil and furnishing soil test based fertilizer recommendation (soil health card) to farmers for obtaining optimum yields.
To give farmer a service leading to better and more economic use of fertilizer and better soil management practices to increase Agricultural production.

50% Red soils Low in Sulphur
8.3 lakh ha soils affected with salinity & alkalinity
Infrastructure :
In Andhra Pradesh the soil testing is carried out by network of 84 soil testing laboratories comprising of 2RSTL, 22 district STLs, 4 mobile STL and 56 AMC STLs at AMC level. Soil samples are analysed for soil pH, EC and available macronutrients i.e NPK. Further all the district STLs and Regional RSTL are equipped with AAS equipment for analysis of soil sample for micronutrients and also with kelpus for Nitrogen analysis. The results of the soil analysis will be communicated to the respective farmers in the shape of soil Health cards. The soil Health card contains the information on the soil fertility status showing the available nutrients. Based on the available nutrients, fertilizer recommendations are given in the card for the crop to be grown by the farmers.
