About the Fund :
Department for International Development ("DFID") is a department of the UK Government that manages Britain's aid to poor and developing countries. DFID is considering investments in sectors such as renewable energy, water and sanitation, agricultural supply chain, rural roads etc (Target Sectors) in 8 identified states of India. It is partnering SBICAP Ventures to set up and manage the fund. SBICAP Ventures is a wholly owned subsidiary of SBICAP which in turn is a wholly owned subsidiary of SBI. The Fund is proposed to start with an initial corpus of USD 80 million. The fund aims to build a team with right blend of experience and domain expertise to take the initiative forward.
Job Description :
the responsibility relating to setting-up of the Fund in all aspects.
He shall also assist in fund raising for second closing raising of funds to ensure meeting targets, within the defined timelines Plan the draw down schedule
Lead the funds team in identification of suitable assets for investments, including through direct marketing, coordinating effectively with SBI network and third party consultants for access to potential assets, ensure profitable deployment of funds.
Monitor the functioning of the Investment team and ensure effective implementation of investment policy by selection of appropriate investment opportunities and effective asset management.
Ensure compliance with all policies laid down by the Trustee, including Environment and Social Guidelines. Strive for compliance with the guidelines by Investee Companies also.
Investment Policy :
Understand market dynamics, competitive strategies and business operations, with the ability to formulate a comprehensive investment thesis and also proactively build a deal pipeline around that thesis.
Finalize the Investment policy and present the same for approval to the Core team / Investment Committee.
Understand and implement the Environment Social Guidelines for investments and analyse the social impact of such investments
Prepare the Fund Business Plan based on investment projections, projected returns and expenses to be incurred
Funds Deployment :
Overseeing business valuations and analysis of investment opportunities and execution of such analysis
Assist in negotiation of price and non-price terms and coordinate due diligence
Coordinate effectively with SBI network and external consultants for getting investment leads as well as due diligence
Set up investment targets across sectors and regions and project yields to be generated across sectors, project types and business models
Review agreements and due diligence reports
Assess the screened investment proposals on the basis of developer, legal, property, regulatory due diligence reports and corporate financials
Review investment proposals and present the same to the Core team/ Investment Committee for approval
Review terms of association as well as the financial structuring of various deals
Ensure profitable deployment of fund
Asset Management :
Plan, budget and allocate investment and management resource requirement for projects undertaken
Review and approve the acquired assets’ strategy, Business Plan and budgets and provide inputs on projected / targeted revenues, timelines, expenses and cash flows etc.
Discuss opportunities with the promoters to maximize the asset's potential
Monitor progress of assets’ projects, financials, cash flow and returns generated based on the business plan and provide inputs for further growth
Monitor social impact of such investments, to the extent feasible
Identify assets in the portfolio indicating potential returns lower than the returns projected in the business plan and determine the action plans for the same
Endeavour to promote ESG compliance in Portfolio companies including assistance from DFID for the same.
Fund Management :
Ensure successful exit from deals by recommending the most profitable exit option
>Provide inputs on the exit options to be exercised for every development on the basis of potential returns, yield points and long term relationship prospects
Monitor Fund NAV, analyze the investment environment and develop projections for the fund
Make recommendations to the Core team on the Portfolio holding / exit strategy
Make recommendations for drawdown of funds or payouts as applicable
Others :
As part of the core team, make critical decisions pertaining to the organization and its funds in line with Organizational strategy.
Build and maintain relationships with Chanel Partners including SBI and external consultants
Build healthy team & help create productive work culture.
Establish Career & Succession planning for various key roles in the Investment team
Requirements :
Recognized degree in finance, accounting or equivalent (CA / MBA / CFA qualifications a must)
15+ years with at least 5 years of managerial experience in PE space in India
Excellent business development skills, well-networked with the small and Medium scale enterprises and nationalized banks network
Knowledge of private equity, valuation, risk management, negotiation, managerial skills and multi-tasking abilities
Having previous work experience in a venture in the space of social/rural infrastructure will be an added advantage

Responsibilities/Duties :
Part of team for executing mandates involving project appraisal, syndication and advisory. Assist in preparing documents, memorandum information, and all other activities in transacting and closing the deal. The job will involve critically evaluating the business plan, various financing documents, building financial model for evaluation, assessment and risk and mitigation thereof.
Knowledge of core finance and financial modeling and financial statement analysis.
Share responsibilities in executing in a timely and cost effective manner
Interact with various levels of officials of banks and corporates.
Experience :
Experience in the credit / project finance department of a bank/institution with demonstrated capability in handling credit proposals relating to projects & knowledge of documentation for project loans
OR
Experience in the project planning/project development department of a corporate for obtaining credit facilities for funding of new/expansion projects & knowledge of documentation for project loans.
