Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Work in Criminology and Police Science

Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for the Award of twelve (12) Fellowships for Doctoral work in Criminology and Police Science for three years payable through the institution where the fellow shall be registered for Ph.D. work.

Eligibility:
First or second class Master’s Degree not less than 55% marks for General Category and 50% for Reserve Category (SC/ST/OBC) in Criminology, Sociology, Social work, Psychology, Social Anthropology, Public Administration, Political Science, Law, and Police Administration.

Preference shall be given to the NET/SET qualified candidate.

The candidate should be Registered for Ph.D programme with any of the recognized Indian university any of the subjects mentioned above.

The fellowship is open to Indian Nationals up to 30 years of age (General Category) and 35 years (Reserve Category - SC/ST/OBC) as on the date of publication of Advertisement for the purpose.

Reservation: SC/ST/OBC {as per Government of India rules)

Applicants are required to send self-addressed unstamped envelope (28cm x 12 cm) attached with the request.

Application for the award should be accompanied by the following documents.
(a) Certified copy of the Matriculation or School Leaving Certificate in evidence of age.
(b) Copies of all the degree, diploma, along with their respective Mark sheets duly attested.
(c) Copies of all the professional degrees and experience certificates
(d) Cast certificate, if the Candidate belongs to Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe.

Selection Procedure :
(a) All applications will be closely processed and scrutinized by the Bureau of Police Research and Development and then placed before the Fellowship Awards Committee constituted for the purpose by the DG, BPR&D. The committee will comprise of experts/specialists from relevant disciplines, DG, BPR&D will be its Chairman and Director (Research) will be its member and Dy. Director (Research) will be its member-secretary. In accordance with the committee’s remarks and evaluation of each candidate, a merit list will be prepared for selection with the approval of DG, BPR&D on behalf of Central Govt. The decision of the committee in regard to the selection or rejection of candidates will be final and binding in all respects.

(b) All the candidates will be informed of the decision taken by the committee for the award of fellowship.

Closing date for receipt of applications: 10th September, 2013

Incomplete and late applications will not be considered. The candidates bringing any outside influence and canvassing shall be declared disqualified.
