Scheme of National Awards 2012 of the Coconut Development Board
Guidelines :
The objective of the Scheme of National Awards is to recognize and promote excellence in coconut cultivation, innovative methods in coconut farming, product development, product improvement, quality improvement, product diversification and marketing, export and extension activities.

It is proposed to institute awards as given below :

Award Category - Cash Prize :
1. The Best Coconut Farmer - Rs.50,000/-
2. The Best Coconut Processor - Rs.50,000/-
3. The Best Research Worker - Rs.50,000/-
4. The Best Exporter of Coconut Products - Rs.50,000/-
5. Best Palm Climber - Rs.25,000/-

GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS :
1. The nominee / applicant should be an Indian citizen and a resident of India.
2.
a. The application form for National Awards will be available from the Board’s offices and office of the Director of Horticulture/Agriculture in coconut growing states or can be downloaded from the Board’s website.
b. The applications shall be submitted to the Directors of Agriculture / Horticulture of the States concerned.
c. The application for the best palm climber shall be forwarded after conducting competitions and selection at the state level.
d. In the case of other categories the application can be sent directly to the Chairman, Coconut Development Board,Kochi.
e. The application forms will be available free of cost.
3. The awardee will be selected by an Expert Committee nominated by the Chairman, Coconut Development Board.
4. The nominee/applicant shall extend all facilities for the inspection of the unit / garden by the selection committee during the selection process.
5. The Chairman, Coconut Development Board reserves the right not to declare the award in the absence of sufficient and suitable applications worthy of an award.
6. Paper cuttings, photographs, video clippings, testimonials, etc. may be submitted to support the nominee’s/ applicant’s experience and excellence in the line.
7. The nominee’s / applicant’s bio data with a passport size photograph along with the application has to be submitted.
8. The applicant / nominee should not be a defaulter of income tax / sales tax / VAT payable to the Govt.
9. The Selection Committee shall recommend Consolation Prizes in case there are entries, which demonstrate a high level of talent, entrepreneurship and innovativeness, which needs to be encouraged and recognized. The Consolation Prize shall consist of a suitable cash award and a certificate.
10.
a. The last date for receiving nomination / application for the best coconut farmer award by the State Director of Agriculture / Horticulture is 5 pm on 30th June 2013.
b. The State Department of Agriculture/ Horticulture will prepare a short list of 3 farmers and send to the Coconut Development Board on or before 20th July 2013.
c. Nomination / application for all other awards may be sent to the Chairman, Coconut Development Board, Kera Bhavan, Kochi - 682 011 on or before 5 pm on 20th July 2013 in the prescribed form
