    Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the MA in Development Studies programme for the academic session 2013-14. Applicants are required to note the name of the Department, Programme and Programme Code as mentioned below, that will be required at the time of filling ONLINE APPLICATION FORM.

    Department : Humanities and Social Sciences (HS)
    Programme : Development Studies
    Programme Code :HS1

    Academic Qualification : B.Tech, B.A., B.Sc., B.Com. with 50% marks or 5.5/10 CGPA. Among B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com, applicants with Honours will be given preference

    Eligibility:
    Admission to the programme will be made on the basis of career marking as decided by the Institute.
    The candidates appearing qualifying degree final examination may also apply for the above programme. However, they are required to submit their mark/grade sheet showing 50% marks or 5.5/10 CGPA at the time of selection and admission, failing which the applicants must produce a certificate signed by the Principal or Registrar of the College/University last attended stating that all examinations including practicals necessary for award of the degree have been completed, in order to be eligible for admission, in the prescribed format given in the Annexure-I. Such candidates have to produce their final result latest by 30th September 2013; else their admission will stand cancelled and all fees paid including Caution deposit will be forfeited by the Institute.

    Slow Pace: MA programme is also offered in slow pace (4 years) to candidates, employed (including self employment) in industry / organizations in and around Rourkela. Their admission will be within the approved seat limit as mentioned in the seat distribution. Eligibility criteria, selection process and fees are same as those for regular students studying in normal pace.

    Fee : Rs.500/-

    How to Apply :
    i) Interested candidates satisfying the eligibility criteria may submit online application.

    ii) Applicants are NOT required to send hard copy of the application form or any other document(s) to NIT Rourkela. However, candidates who will be called for selection/admission will be required to submit the following at the time of reporting;
    (1) Signed copy of the application form,
    (2) A set of Xerox copies of all certificates from HSC onwards.

    Important Dates :
    1. Application form will be available in the Institute website for online submission : May 13, 2013 (Monday)
    2. Closing date of online application : June 10, 2013 (Monday)
    3. Publication of list of applicants in the Institute website : June 11, 2013 (Tuesday)
    4. Selection and admission : June 18-19, 2013 (Tuesday & Wednesday)
    5. Registration for the 1st Semester : July 22, 2013 (Monday)
    6. Starting of class : July 23, 2013 (Tuesday)

    My son has secured 47% in English honours. Can he be admitted in to the MA development studies course?
