ADMISSION TO M.B.B.S. / B.D.S COURSES
2013–2014 SESSION

Duration Of The Courses : -
M.B.B.S.: 5½ years including one year Compulsory Rotatory Resident Internship.
B.D.S. : 5 years including one year Compulsory Rotatory Resident Internship.

Age Limit : Should have completed the age of Seventeen years on or before 31st December 2013. Evidence should be produced.

Educational Qualifications:
Candidates should have passed in all the subjects of the qualifying examination of the Higher Secondary Course conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board /any other equivalent Board in a Single Sitting in the following group of subjects with the minimum eligible marks.
(a) Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. (or)
(b) Physics, Chemistry, Biology with any other subject.

Minimum Eligibility Marks : -
A. MBBS :
(i) Other Communities : -
(a) A minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together.
(b) A minimum of 60% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.
(c) Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 140 out of 200 marks.

(ii) Backward Class and Backward Class Muslim : -
(a) A minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together.
(b) A minimum of 60% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.
(c) Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 130 out of 200 marks.

(iii) Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities : -
(a) A minimum of 55% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together.
(b) A minimum of 55% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.
(c) Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b)should not be less than 120 out of 200 marks .

(iv) Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Caste–Arunthathiyar , Scheduled Tribes : -
(a) A minimum of 40% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together.
(b) A minimum of 40% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.
(c) Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 80 out of 200 marks. The candidates under Orthopedically Physically Disabled Category – (Locomotory disability of Lower Limbs alone). OC / BC / BCM / MBC / DC should have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in each prescribed subject in the qualifying examination

(B) BDS :-
(i) The candidates ( OC / BC / BCM/ MBC/ DC ) should have obtained not less than 50% of the aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology / Botany and Zoology taken together at the qualifying examination.
(ii) Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Caste – Arunthathiyar and Scheduled Tribe, the aggregate marks required for admission shall be 40%.
(iii) The candidates under Orthopedically Physically Disabled Category (OC / BC / BCM / MBC / DC) should have obtained not less than 45% of the aggregate marks in the above prescribed subjects at the qualifying examination.

Application Fee : Demand Draft for Rs.500 /-
Drawn in favour of The Secretary, Selection Committee and payable at Chennai.
The name of the candidate and the name of the course (MBBS/ BDS )should be written on the reverse of the Demand Draft.

ii) The filled application along with necessary enclosures and 3 self addressed envelopes measuring 24 x 12 cms and sent in a large sized cover measuring 38cm X 28cm superscribed ‘APPLICATION FOR MBBS / BDS COURSE 2013 – 2014 SESSION’ to the

Note : Eligible candidates can download their call letters from the websites by entering their AR No allotted by the Selection Committee and their Date of Birth and attend the counseling as per the date and time mentioned in the counselling schedule which will also be available on the web sites. The tentative merit list will be displayed on the notice board of this Directorate. Merit list will be also available on the internet at http / www.tnhealth.org / www.tn.gov.in. Results of candidates will not be informed individually.

How can I get the counselling call letter?

Eligible candidates can download their call letters from the websites www.tnhealth.org / www.tn.gov.in by entering their AR No allotted by the Selection Committee and their Date of Birth and attend the counseling as per the date and time mentioned in the counselling schedule which will also be available on the web sites. Candidates are requested to paste their photographs on the call letters which is to be attested by a Gazetted Officer. ( The photograph must be a copy of the same one pasted on the Application)

Counselling Schedule will be available on the website. Candidates who have not received the call letter in time can also attend the counselling session as per schedule and as per their merit with call letters downloaded from the website.

All communications will be sent only to the mailing address given in the application and self addressed envelopes (Size 24 X 12 cms). Candidates are requested to intimate any change of address immediately. The intimation / call letters will be sent either by Certificate of Posting, Registered Post, Speed Post, Courier Service or by Telegram whichever is feasible. Selection Committee is not responsible for any postal delay or non receipt of call letters.

Any change or modification and relevant information pertaining to this admission process will be made available immediately on the websites. (www.tnhealth.org / www.tn.gov.in.) The candidates are instructed to frequently visit the website from the date of application till the end of counselling without fail. Please do not wait for counselling information to be received by post, as all information including the date of counselling will be put up in the websites. Call letters can also be downloaded from the websites. Candidates will be permitted for counselling accordingly
