VIT 2013 Counselling dates has been announced by the college. There are lakhs of seats in VIT and on those seats many candidates gives the entrance test. VITEEE is the engineering entrance test organised by the institute to take admission in different branches of engineering.

Note: Candidates are requested to book the Train / Flight tickets in advance to participate in the VITEEE Counselling to be held on Vellore & Chennai Campus.


Counselling
Advance Payment :
The selected candidates will have to submit the DD for ` 30,000- in favour of ‘VIT University’, payble at Vellore, onthe Confirmation of seat and acceptance of branch alloted. This includes ` 10,000/- towards couselling fee. Couselling fee is NON-REFUNDABLE, but it will be adjusted in the tuition fees once the candidate joins the University

COUNSELLING PROCEDURE :
Counselling for admission to B.Tech programs will be done simultaneously in Vellore and Chennai campuses, through online multicity counselling procedure. Candidates can opt to appear for counselling in any one of the cities either Vellore or Chennai. Candidates should submit their choice of the counselling centre on or before 10/5/2013.

The procedure followed will be the same as in the previous years. After exercising their choice of the counselling centre, the candidates have to come on the scheduled day of counselling and register themselves in the counselling centre. They will be called into the counselling hall according to their rank in the VITEEE 2013.

For example:
If the 1st ranker is in Vellore and the 2nd and 3rd rankers are in Chennai and 4th ranker is in Vellore taking the counselling, the 1st ranker will be given the first choice of selecting the branch and the campus of his/her choice. Then the 2nd ranker and 3rd ranker, even though they are in Chennai will have his/her turn respectively. Only after 2nd and 3rd rankers finish exercising their choice in Chennai, the 4th ranker in Vellore will get the opportunity to choose the branch and the campus of his/her choice.

This is being made possible through online mode of communication and the whole process will be in the Video conferencing mode. This means that the candidates in Vellore will be able to see who is going into the counselling hall in Chennai and in the same way the candidates in Chennai will be able to see in the screen the candidate, who is going into the counselling hall in Vellore. The screen indicating the seat availability in various branches in both the campuses will be a common one and the candidates both in Vellore and Chennai counselling centres will be able to see them. This ensures transparent admission process at VIT, as done in the past.

This new online counselling methodology is being followed to make easier, the travel plans of many of the candidates and parents coming from far off places.

Counselling procedure for allocation of seats/ branch:
The counselling for allocation of branches to the short-listed candidates is based on their All India Rank (AIR) in the VITEEE-2013. A candidate may obtain this information on our website or by calling the VIT office, on the day after the declaration of the results of VITEEE-2013.

The intimation regarding counselling dates will be displayed in VIT website and also SMS will be sent to the qualified candidates after declaration of results. Common selection and Admission procedure will be followed through single window counselling at Vellore and Chennai campus for all the B.Tech programmes offered in both the campuses of VIT University.

Candidates who have been shortlisted for counselling should also attend the same in person either in Vellore or Chennai campus.

To take care of possible absentees, the number of qualified candidates is kept more than the number of seats available in VIT University. The fact that a candidate has qualified in the VITEEE-2013 and has been called for the counselling does not guarantee admission to him / her. This will depend upon the candidates All India Rank (AIR) in the entrance examination and the availability of seats.

Details of various branches offered under the B.Tech. programme in the current year, the total number of seats allocated for each branch at the time of counselling, number of seats still available will be displayed at the counselling centre for the benefit of candidates to make their choice. Based on the availability, the candidate will be allotted the branch.
