The Program :
Mulamoottil Eye Hospital, started in memory of Vaidyaratnam Mulamoottil Mathan Mathai (1855-1934) a renowned eye physician of central Travancore, offers three fellowships to the outstanding students of Ophthalmology, from any part of India. During the tenure of fellowship, the fellows can undergo training at Mulamoottil Eye Hospital, one of the best eye hospitals of India. The hospital offers training in
** Advanced Cataract Surgery: Phaco-emulsification on Infiniti & Femtosecond Blade-free cataract (this is only for surgeons who have done at least 250 simple phaco-emulsification procedures).
** Blade Free Lasik: Diagnostics, Work-up, Patient selection and training on EX 500 Wavelight Laser System
** Diabetic Retinopathy: Diagnostics & Lasers (OCT, FFA, B-Scan, Diode Lasers)

Selection :
Selection will be made by the Medical Director. Performance of the candidate in the interview and Academic Records will be the sole criteria for selection. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.

Facilities for Training :
The Hospital is equipped with LensX Femto Second LASER CATARACT SURGERY SYSTEM, Infiniti Vision System (3 nos), Alcon Wavelight Refractive Suite, Oculyser, Biograph, Lasers, Spectral OCT, Fundus Imaging Systems, Octopus Perimeters (3 nos), Accurus Vitrectomy Systems, C3R & B-Scans.

Research Opportunities :
Fellows can actively participate in ongoing research programs in MEH. These are Femto-second Cataract systems, ROP/ Retinal screening and validation with Retcam, Autorefraction & Amblyopia prediction in infants with Plus Optix & SLO based fundus imaging.
